Moin! (As we say)

Last Summer I bought a 1962 Dart 2dr Sedan 225 at the internet. I was on vacation in Denmark when I found the link to this car at the german Moparforum. I got some more pictures and finally had a friend paying a deposit from Germany. Few days later it was my car.

Lots of months later it arrived in Hamburg

My Darts look good side by side

The Dart isn't like brandnew and he sat for about 20 years. Few areas are rough, but the overall condition is not so bad, he has a very nice patina and is very original

We got the engine running but the fuel was too dirty, the car ran but didn't brake. That's ok. Finally the Dart drove in the garage with his own power

Certainly I will replace the floor and so I bought the floorboards from AMD

But this job will take a while and some more disassembling. My wish for the Dart was to drive him at his 50th birthday to a local car show. So we planned a 2-day redneck resto with a couple of friends

Which we did :headbang:

7 people were doing a nice job in wrenching, doing BBQ, talking **** and drinking lots of beer

CIMG0312.jpg

We replaced the gastank, fuel lines, brake lines, brake cylinders, and lots of other mechanical parts

CIMG0317.jpg

The valvetrain and carburator got a quick fixup

But the funniest part was this thing Volvo-hood-cut-to-stripes-and-rivet-in-as-if-it-could-be-a-floor

It worked and was great fun!

I got the seats upholstered and as a final job after two days and nights we put them in and drank some beers. It's me in the middle

The Dart made his cruise to the Street Mag Show Hamburg at his 50th birthday and for me it was such a great day with my family and the friends who helped me

Now it's time to do it right. I pulled the engine to get the weight off the car and frame

And to do it better, I got the body of Marcel's partscar. It has so many nice parts of sheetmetal, it was pure fun to cut it to useable pieces

Hope to be able to show some progress soon. Merry Christmas to you cool people :VB toast:

edit: I found so many typos and ****-english, it would take months to do it correctly. Sorry for that. I am German and my school-english is nearly 30 years old

Love 62's I will be watching the progress.

Cool!! I could understand what the cars were saying at least! :D

This looks like the one I used to see in Sioux Falls South Dakota. I tried to find its home many times with no sucess...

You guys sure aren't afraid to put in the work or drink beer, looked like a fun night. Good Luck

Yes, Goldencommando! This car is from SD. There is a nice Dealersticker at the rear saying Duke Tufty Co. Sioux Falls.

The best thing is this:

I was told the Dart sat since 1995.

Cool car and you got it running good and floor repair (temperary) in 2 days on top of drinking beer. Shoot, it would take me 2 days just too figure out what i want to do on something like like. Looks like everyone had a good time at your place and the mopar get together.

Hey Postman!

I'll do my very best to make it happen that the only two 1962 Dart Sedans in Germany will take a ride together. Maybe at the Dragrace in ROW ..

Hi Svensson,

I`ll work on my 65 Coronet near Lueneburg this winter and I may be able to show up in Hamburg for a car show in spring.

Will give you a shout in case I can fix my car by then.

Nice Dart by the way, keep up the good work!

Daniel

Man that is one heck of a project you have there! Lots of work involved in that underside repair. You are a very brave man!!! In the end you will certainly have a very cool and unique old Mopar - which I bet there are not many of in Germany?
Having spent a number of years driving in Germany I could not imagine driving my 62 Plymouth around over there. Not without power steering and some seriously upgraded brakes and suspension at least...
Ich wunsche Ihnen viel Gluck mit Ihrem Projekt!

Thank you!

this mousehole was ugly.

My hat is off to you guys in the Germany classic car club.Have seen many pictures from your large & small car shows and I find it amazing the amount of american cars that live there.
Will you keep it as a slanty or will you go with a V8??:VB toast::hatwave:
