Moin! (As we say)
Last Summer I bought a 1962 Dart 2dr Sedan 225 at the internet. I was on vacation in Denmark when I found the link to this car at the german Moparforum. I got some more pictures and finally had a friend paying a deposit from Germany. Few days later it was my car.
Lots of months later it arrived in Hamburg
My Darts look good side by side
The Dart isn't like brandnew and he sat for about 20 years. Few areas are rough, but the overall condition is not so bad, he has a very nice patina and is very original
We got the engine running but the fuel was too dirty, the car ran but didn't brake. That's ok. Finally the Dart drove in the garage with his own power
Certainly I will replace the floor and so I bought the floorboards from AMD
But this job will take a while and some more disassembling. My wish for the Dart was to drive him at his 50th birthday to a local car show. So we planned a 2-day redneck resto with a couple of friends
Which we did :headbang:
7 people were doing a nice job in wrenching, doing BBQ, talking **** and drinking lots of beer
We replaced the gastank, fuel lines, brake lines, brake cylinders, and lots of other mechanical parts
The valvetrain and carburator got a quick fixup
But the funniest part was this thing Volvo-hood-cut-to-stripes-and-rivet-in-as-if-it-could-be-a-floor
It worked and was great fun!
I got the seats upholstered and as a final job after two days and nights we put them in and drank some beers. It's me in the middle
The Dart made his cruise to the Street Mag Show Hamburg at his 50th birthday and for me it was such a great day with my family and the friends who helped me
Now it's time to do it right. I pulled the engine to get the weight off the car and frame
And to do it better, I got the body of Marcel's partscar. It has so many nice parts of sheetmetal, it was pure fun to cut it to useable pieces
Hope to be able to show some progress soon. Merry Christmas to you cool people :VB toast:
edit: I found so many typos and ****-english, it would take months to do it correctly. Sorry for that. I am German and my school-english is nearly 30 years old
