Tring to find a OE type 65 big block positive battery cable assembly. I have checked with Bill Rolik Enterprises which has the nicest but he said his start at 1966 and said relay might be different.
Checked others that have them like 521 restore parts and they start at 1966 year. Does any one know where might have the heavy gauge type for group 27 battery. It has one on the car but is home made and looks like crap.
Have not been able to find out if length or connections are different ? Mopar #2587822 is what the book shows 65/66/67 Coronet & Charger.

We make them for that application and they are made off of an assembly line piece and not the later style replacement over the counter style. These feature all of the correct head markings and cable insulation.. If interested, give Todd a call at 814-509-6410 to order. They are in stock.

Thanks ! Do you offer them in red? Are the 65 & 66 big block auto trans the same ?

The 65 B-Body cable is specific to that application for those cars equipped with the V8, both large and small block excluding the race Hemi applications. The 62 to 64 B-Body application is specific to those years for the V8 applications, excluding the Max Wedges with the trunk mounted cables. We do not make any of the cables for the cars equipped with the batteries located in the trunk. The 66 and 67 B-Body positive cables are different based on small block and big block and the Hemi is entirely different as well

@DART505, the 65 B-Body positive cable from the assembly line was a black primary and secondary cable, so that is the manner in which we reproduced them for those cars. We can custom make one in "red", but it will be approximately four to six weeks to schedule something like that and it would be an additional $20 service charge and since it is a non-stock application, it would be non-refundable.

Atlas, Jim Kramer and Joe Suchy are three of our vendors that carries these cables for us. Kramer carries all of the trunk mounted battery hardware and cables.

I have a 64 Polara with a Poly 318. Were those cables originally black? Did they have a standard clamp or a square 90° one?

@toolmanmike, the 62 to 64 B-Body positive cable that we have reproduced has what I call the 90 degree or flag end. The primary cable is black and the secondary cable is red for this application.

Good to know. I thought all positive cables were Red. Learned something new after 50 years of Mopars and 70+ cars later ! What is the gauge size going to the starter? Just putting a group 27 Odyssey $500 68 Lbs. figured I would do it right.

@DART505, the primary cable is a number 4 gauge. The wire is copper stranded and the head is lead. The cheaper cables use an aluminum strand and a aluminum/lead mixture for the head. Comparing the two, you will see the difference in the weight of the two. The aluminum cables will heat up and break down as you attempt to crank the car over.
