1967 383 Charger engine ID question

LOL nah they didnt stamp 318s with HP, ever lol

I dont think 383 got HP on it until 68 but this is about the best place on the planet to ask.

It's very likely that a 4bbl. 383 would have a HP stamp. Especially if it has factory dual exhaust. I owned a '64 383 that was stamped HP. If you're rebuilding the engine it doesn't really matter. It just refers to some internal parts, the blocks are the same regardless.

because Chrysler didn't make any....there were only 2bbl & 4bbl versions of the 383 in the Charger..no HP versions were made

No. Orange non Hemis didn't come out until 69.

Pre 68 and after 70, there were only 2 and 4bbl versions of the 383. The 335 horse HP variant did not come out until '68 and only lasted three years (68-70)

Except for the early 2 X 4 bbl versions in the late 50s and early 60s. I don't think they were stamped either.

They were the raised block 383...

That link is often cited and filled with errors. I wish someone would take down that site. Please do not use that site as a reference or continue to post it. It causes too much confusion in threads just like this one.

383 RB was used in 59-60 Chryslers only.
The 383 2x4 engines were B style.
