I'm trying to piece together the history and VIN of a 1968 Coronet R/T 426 Hemi that I owned in the early 1980's. At that time I wrote down all the broadcast sheet info, but for some reason I left off the full VIN. I'm trying to figure out the plant code so I can get the correct VIN. Were 426 Coronets for 1968 produced at the Lynch Road (A code) or Hamtramck (B code) plants, or both? In 1984 I wrote: Sequence Number B169038, Shipping Order B07070398, Sequential Number 164738.

68 Coronets were made at Lynch Road, St. Louis and LA.

No Hemi cars at LA leaving us LR or StL.

sequence B169038 appear to be the first numbers in the upper left corner of a 68 Broadcast Sheet.

SPD B07 fits well with a 164xxx VIN from 68 LR

So WS23J8A164738 is viable.

Should be a WS23... But....

Have a list of Hemi cars from NHOA. Look through it didn't find your car but found a VIN one number higher. WS23J8A164739
Owner listed Mehrtens 1982.

Was just reading here about 426's and looked again at my block. It's a clone Hemi '69 Road Runner. I have a very brief paper trail on the car. Wondered about the block, it only has the block part number and -1. Was cast on the day shift on 8-19-68. That's it, no other numbers on the block.
