1969 GTX....The T stands for tetanus

It never ends lol!
The sure grip never did get to where I was happy with its operation. Damn thing was acting like a spool around slow turns. I swapped fluids a few times and added FM to no avail. Tires were getting chewed up and they aren't cheap....So I ordered an Easton Truetrac. No muss, no fuss, no FM.

Got it setup and installed today. The bearings are the larger 2.00" i.d. size. The old, early clutch types are 1.80" i.d. End play was measured at .006" at 5 different spots.

And this button needs to be dropped into the differential if the original taper bearings are being used.

Glad you bought Timkens

Yep. Made in the USA. I was a bit miffed that the bearings and races are sold seperately so I had to double and triple check to make sure they were correct before ordering.

For gear oil I ordered AC Delco 80w-90. It's the only stuff I found that specifically states "no friction modifier" and it is mineral oil.

I read a article a few years back when they used a alum 440. it weighed the same as a, either a /6 or smallblock. That'd help weight distribution.

While waiting for something else to break, I decided to build a catch can. The valve covers I am using are unbaffled and there is oil residue in the hose so I figure using one wouldn't hurt.

I started with a 2 1/2 exhaust coupling, 5/16" steel fuel line, a couple cut sheetmetal ends and other small hardware. Welded the bottom on then added the tubing. The "IN" side tube goes to the bottom, the "OUT" tube comes straight out the top. I welded in a nut to use as the drain and welded a bracket to fit my manifold.

3/8" steel tubing would have been preferred but I didn't have any so I ended up using 3/8" copper tubing glued onto the 5/16" and flared. Pulled vacuum on it and it seems to hold. Cost = $0

More new parts thanks to a sweet deal through Summit. I happen to be browsing efi tanks and the 68-70 Roadrunner Holley Sniper EFI complete tanks were on sale through Summit plus an extra $51 off on any order over $500. So I got it for $481 plus some fittings and new return regulator.

The tank is nice! Powder coated silver, complete with a Walbro 255lph pump, sending unit, tank straps and hardware.

I'm keeping my carb for now. I bought the tank to get an internal in line fuel pump which should be quieter than the Holley black pump which is quite loud.

Got the pump in. Had to test fit and re cut the feed line for the assembly to drop in without hitting the bottom. And I soldered the internal connections as they were crimped from Holley and didn't look great.

Getting there. O'Reilly's was out of 3/8" fuel injection hose. I ran the float up and down and got resistance of 9.5 to 73.

Good progress!

Project has been stalled due to the complete local unavailability of 3/8" fuel injection hose. No one stocks this stuff in town! So I had to order it and received 3' of it last night finally. I may brave the chilly 60 degree weather and get it mounted today lol.

Poor soul, I'll send you some long johns.......... Tomorrow nights low is 8 here.
