After reading articles about people having trouble assembling the steering column switch housing I thought I would give some advice. This procedure is having the complete column out of the vehicle. all parts must be removed from the column, then assemble the switch housing to the inner tube via the difficult square head bolts. The problem is that when you try to assemble the housing with the shafts inside the column the inner tube will not seat in the lower plastic bushing at the far end of the column because the spring pushes the tube out of the plastic bushing. The complete column must be assembles before any internal shafts and tubes are installed. After the column parts are assembled install the spring on the tube, install tube, then shaft, then bolt in plastic end. Now you install bearing and rubber in switch housing then snap ring. Doing it in this order takes about 15 minutes if your somewhat mechanically inclined. Hope this helps someone out.
