1973 charger, super stock springs

I'm looking for any information about fitting super stock springs in my 73 charger. Do I n eed the offset shackle? What spring rate should I go with? Where do I order these parts? What are the part numbers? I'm stuck in a non-mopar area and have little knowledge availiable with the locals here. Please help
 
You won't need "offset shackles, but might well need different front hangers. The SS springs are usually much shorter than what's on your car, being stock A body length. As far as rate goes, you need to know what you're planing on doing, and what the weight of the car will be

My 73 had rubber isolators everywhere in the rear suspension. I did away with all of them but it meant I had to fabricate some minor parts like spacers and things. I bought a spring relocation kit from a guy called Doctor Diff over on the Moparts board and he was really familiar with these cars and their complications. There are all kinds of little changes related to Dodge changing these cars from performance to luxury. Little things like the rubber isolators in the rear end and the front shocks being shorter than 72 and earlier, etc.
I haven't run into anything too serious, though.
 
Hi , you can use the offset hangers if you want additional tire clearance. You have to use the long front mounts for this one and the 3800LB springs. The last one i did we replaced all the spring bushings with aluminum with bronze inserts. the front isolator bushings all were replaced with solid alum pieces. Make sure you tie the frame for the best performance. Overall the change should not be very complex. you should look at a set of CALTRACS & mono leafs from Calvert racing before making any changes. they work much better than the old SS springs. Along with the rear changes the 6-cyl or .810" Dia. bars with a 90/10 shock work with both setups. Loose the front sway bar if its a strip car or you can space the two frame mounts lower (approx 1.5") and use it if you have a street car. Make sure you check everything 3 time or more before welding anything in. We typically set the pinion angle about 3 degrees down with the car in the static position. Good luck.
 
You need the long front hangers from mopar performance and for your B body 3600# springs. I don't know what kind of spacers that guy was talking about to remove the isolator rubbers. 20 years ago when I installed SS springs in my 73 drag Charger. I just tossed the rubbers and used 66 to 72 B body ubolts to take up the space. The 73 ubolt isn't threaded far enough to get everything tightened down right.
 
There are rubber spacers in many places on the 73 and 74 Chargers....the most notable are between the springs and shock plates and beween the body and the x-member that has the tranny support and torsion bars tie into also where the K-member connects to the framerails.

I'm going to be replacing these with solid spacers and then fabricating a pair of frame connecters... as none are available for these years to the best of my knowledge.

As noted I think the spacers were meant to quiet the car so that it was more of a luxury car... end of the muscle era :(
