1973 Roadrunner-Colemans Project

Did they give you any indication of when they would have any in...all they told me was no sooner that 45 day but not a no later than....

My understanding is that the 73/74 patch panels are no longer in production. A couple of places may have had some left-over stock, but my guess is it will be a long wait. I hope I am wrong, because I could use a couple for my 73...

Work look great so far. This will be a really cool car when it is done!

Some motivation (hopefully). The 73 was my first car and it is now my son's first car and daily driver. 340, 727, factory console, SlapStik, A/C and 3.55 sure grip car...

Hi Hawk--This is Coleman's dad...Im on here reading all these cool builds you guys are doing and getting alot of good tips-- I called Summit about the lower quarters but they didnt leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling even thought I could order them and hope...The passenger side on this car needs a 3"x4" patch behind the wheel and the drivers side needs the lower 5" x 8" long and we can make them and just buy the trunk drop downs. Coleman is excited about getting this project rolling and has been working hard on it ...fun to see the enthusiasm
My 1st car was a '69 Roadrunner when I was 16

This sounds like a great father-son project. I gave my son a completed car, but we have still had to do some work to it, including replacing intake manifold gaskets, steering box and other more minor stuff. To both of you (father and son), enjoy these times together! You are making memories you will both cherish!

Keep up the good work!

Hawk

will do!

Nice job on the patch! Just make sure the weld penetrated well and you should be good to go with that fix!

Everything takes time, but it takes a lot less time to do it right the first time than to have to do it over later. Looks like you are wisely fixing things right...

Thanks Hawk! And you are correct... Tonight we were drilling out the spot welds on the floor boards...we have new left and right side full length pans and the original 4 speed tunnel has the lower inch or so rusted out and gone towards the gas pedal area so we are removing it as the whole pan... hopefully that gives a better idea how to patch the tunnel to match the floor pan...

Great work on the frame rails, that is some hard stuff to accomplish!!

Hi Ron! It sure was a challenge but we got it... just had to keep massaging the metal to get all the correct angles and bends and then shave it a hair at a time until it fit good...took several hours just on the patch panel. And a BIG THANKS to you and everyone else for the advice and support. Being able to come on here and look at all the builds and get ideas is a huge help.
