1979 Chrysler 300 Registry

I don't know anything about it.

Picture in post #509 is fuzzy, but...
VIN: SS22L9R176597
DOM 1-79

View attachment 1320990

Found a picture of the fender tag.

Also, pictures of the car at:

1979 300

VIN: SS22L9R210864

Anyone want to rescue one?

From eBay ad:
No battery, have keys, don’t know if runs or not, this is a lien sale from a tow yard. Don’t know any history.

Decorative louvers are missing from the front fenders. I don't see the small T-shaped "nibs" for hanging the louvers.

Red, white, and blue decorative medallion is missing from under each rear quarter window.

I see an air pump under the hood. So, this car is an N95 California Emissions Package car.

I see:
Power windows
Tilt wheel
Cruise control
Sunroof
White vinyl trim on the bumpers.
Car isn't originally red.

Looks to be a sunroof car. Would be a good candidate for a Hellcat engine/trany swap!

That one wasn't on the list but is now. We currently have 266 full VIN's accounted for. If anyone is interested in the one at Erwin CDJR let me know and I'll gladly check it out for you. Not too far from me.

@LS-300 How many of the 266 full VIN are sunroof cars and how many are T-top cars?

Do any any of the partial VIN cars have a sunroof or T-top? How many if any?

Even brand new they took a while to sell. Mine has a DOM of 2-79 and wasn't bought until 6-80 according to the original sales receipt.

Mine started out at Cantrell & Guy in Dayton, Ohio. They went bankrupt & the car sat until the courts dealt with it. Mine eventually was sold brand new at Bob Ross Buick in 1981.

There are no pictures of the interior, nor any pictures of the engine bay. No fender tag picture, no dash VIN plate, and no driver's door label.

Ad states 38,914 miles

Found pictures on the Seller's website. Interior looks nice. Crank-up windows, not power windows. Exhaust system is incomplete. Inside of trunk warrants close inspection. Underside of car is crustier than I expected for a low mileage car. The barn where it was stored must have been humid...go figure.

MDH: 011823

Two VINs @LS-300

Two cars for $7,800
Oakboro, North Carolina

VIN SS22L9R205293
VIN SS22L9R207028

This is for Two, 1979 Chrysler 300’s, a survivor driver, plus an extra 1979 Chrysler 300 without motor or transmission, 2 classics, both are ‘survivor’ class, no mods or restoration. The driving car has the 360 4 barrel, 195 HP, lean burn system, factory dual exhaust, runs, drives smooth, lots of pep for a ’79, Red leather interior and has been repainted in white with gold pin strips. Has lots of small flaws, original interior, all gages & tach work, Factory AM/FM Stereo w/ 8-Track Player – Works! A/C does not, needs converted to modern Freon. 3 speed TorqueFlite, center console shifter, front bucket seats have significant wear on seat buns, with tears and cracks, but sit OK. It is all there, lights, lenses, trim, no serious body rust anywhere. Solid, I take to local cruise-ins to show off the old Detroit Iron, one of the few muscle car models of 1979. Stock rims & hub caps w/300 logo w/almost new tires, brakes good too. The second car needs motor and tranny but has the factory paint, in trunk is most of the missing interior pieces plus engine parts, nearly everything is there. This is 2 of the 3,811 made that year, all with same exterior and interior package. All 1979 300s were finished in Spinnaker White with red, white and blue pinstripes and 300 callouts on the grille, door panels, taillamp lenses and wheels. Inside, the 300 furniture is upholstered in red leather, the steering wheel, has a leather covering, and the dash face as well as the top of the center console got special engine-turned trim. A tachometer and gauges were also standard issue alongside the NHTSA-mandated 85 mph speedometer. A 195-hp E-58 police powerplant, 360 V8 and rugged three-speed Torqueflite put the power to a Chrysler 9 1/4-inch axle with 3.21:1 gears in Dana 60 R.E. Driver vehicle- VIN SS22L9R207028 (odometer probably rolled over) & the no motor vehicle VIN SS22L9R205293. The first 7 interior pics are the no engine car. Includes 2 new factory manuals and 1 set of door seals. Email me first, also I am willing to deliver the non-engine car within 100 miles of Charlotte NC.
