2 Mopars, or Not 2 Mopars

At one time I had 3 a Porsches...all registered and driveable anytime. It got to be a rat race keeping up on them. I sold 2, keeping the one I enjoyed the most. Of course now I still have the Porsche and my b body.

We still have the 67 318 Charger that we bought on October 16th 1970. Sold it, but it came back. Missing the radio.
Through the years bought other 66-67 Chargers. Made a nice 67 383 LL1 383 auto. Drove it to long distance car shows.
Got our youngest son a red/white hat 67 383 auto, it was done in 1991, was vandalized 1997, redone.
Finished our oldest son`s 67 881 383 4 speed in 2017.
Now working on our 67 440 4 speed. Sold the LL1 to help get the 440.
Right now the goal is to have trim for the three.
Might sell the 440L auto, maybe some of the 66`s. These are cars that could be done. No motors or transmission.
C BODY for sale 1968 Imperial Convert, for a friend. 1971 Imperial 2 door. 68 is running driving.
My conclusion!
I only need one car. Want it for my own pleasure, don’t care what it is worth when I die.
We go to car shows to meet people, not too impress them.
SUGGESTION. Start on your favourite car by the time you are 60. I for one are a lot slower once I reached 70.
The C bodies should be in the sale section I know.

I’m a one and done kind of guy. Had my first car a 68 GTX for 48 years and just sold it about 6 months ago. Do I miss it? Yeah - but no regrets. Life changes and so did my priorities. I’ve always wondered about the guys that a herd of cars. Couldn’t do it myself.

I'm trying to put my 68 GTX back together. Work has been crazy, trying to find time to do anything. To answer your question, I def need one more though. A 70 RR would do the trick. If you ask my wife, she'd say I don't need any of them, lol. I could be doing worse things. Whatever makes you happy I say.

I have the fantasy of retirement on the road. Drag racing around country. (Especially the small tracks.) My lady, kids, banker all said. "You'll be lucky if a county retirement farm will take you?" I of course say. "You're saying there is a chance?" SWEET!

How many can you drive at one time? I had 2 71 Cudas , 1 70 challger R/T. 1 72 and 1 73 Challenger 340s , a 71 300 and my 71 runner. I walked outside one day after asking myself the same question. Do I want to wrench or drive. Sold everything but the road runner and focused on that. Could not be happier. Still have some time to wrench and get dirty, but now my weekends are behind the wheel and 4-5000 miles a year driving brings alot more fun memories that countless hours wrenching. Kinda like the old saying, when you're on your death bed you don't wish you worked more. Get one, keep it running and go make some memories for you and your family. Cars will pass but they will have those memories forever.

Great thing about America, we can all do whatever we want. When I want to drive I jump into one of my trucks or if I am feeling the need for speed I get into my 10 Challenger RT or my 01 Viper, comfortable, handles exceptionally well and requires zero wrenching. But, like I said I do love wrenching on my vintage cars and will drive them once in a while. My 52 B3B is awesome, basically a rat rod with a 56 Desoto Hemi in it with EFI and a AT.

If I had a dream it would be do so some auto X or perhaps even road racing but thats what I give up to build the cars, maybe one day I will do it.

I don't go to car shows, basically because I don't care to sit around for hours waiting for a trophy, and I'll never get one. I see too many sit on their chairs and never walk around.

I drive my cars whenever possible. Most can tell because they're ratty, and most are envious that I actually drive the heck out of them.

I shy away from praise or attention, just want to get whatever I went to get and go.
I'll run any errand for anyone if the weather is good.

After reading all of your posts, I'm starting to lean towards sticking with one car.
Even though both are reliable there are things I'd like to do to bring one to the next level, and do it within a short amount of time.

I'd sure miss one if I sold, big time, tough to decide what to do.
The problem is, doing nothing is also deciding.

Thank you all for your input. I can't say I'll do anything in the immediate future, but I'll be looking over what I have, what I really want, and will definitely be thinking about this on a regular basis.

My mother always said, 'wants and needs.'
In the past I sold my 57 Chevy, 64 Nova SS, Trans Am, and others no problem, some for good reasons, some for lack of use. No regrets.
That gets blurred with Mopars.

My heart says more than the one, my lack of personal time says one is enough, 62 and still working 60+ hrs a week.
When in the 90’s we had 3 we restored, all GM cars
I have my dream car now and love focusing my spare time on it and enjoying the cruises

There is a lot of unfinished projects to see,but I am hoping to get paint on the wife's Challenger convertible this year, and put the white 70 Charger together to drive this year. The Daytona stock car project, is kinda on hold, as the engine builder has not made any progress as of my last visit to his shop. If you got the treats,I got the beer.

One in my garage. Financially could squeeze in two, but garage space would be a problem with daily outside all the time. Sold a very nice Dart because I finally got my Charger and it will take some $$$. I'm at the age where I look at financial conditions with most things I do. Don't want to cut back on wife or grand kids enjoyment because I'm blowing to much on my thing. Couple vacations a year, that the wife has earned putting up with my BS, and we like to spoil the grand kids somewhat so it comes down to dollars and cents for me. NO more projects for sure, BUT, I'm eyeing a '99 Dakota R/T sooooo , what the hell do I know. Thinking, maybe I could keep that outside.

Since the mid 80's I have always had 3 and up. I restore my own stuff and to suit me. I tend to collect the same models, just cars I like, many times now days cheap models no one else pays many $ for. I have always live in the sticks with room, not always any fancy garage or even a shed. But this is the SOUTH!!!!!

Sometimes I have 6 or 7, sometimes maybe 2. I do well to just get my $$ back when I sell. I also work for FREE! But I have never sold one at a loss.

I enjoy the build, but at 71 I just can't do like I always have. I have had everything from Hemis, 6 pacs, to slants. I have never taken a car to a car show. I enjoy seeing what other people build/own, meeting good people, ...the one that I spot 50 yards away that are ********, I just walk on by.

I have kids and other interests as well.
I’m never done with the “done” car I bought. Can’t imagine I’d have time for more than the one.

Another aspect, and this is a sticky one....
If something happens to me, I sure as hell don’t want my wife saddled with a bunch of unfinished car projects to deal with.

That's why I downsized and put the rest in the market. My wife is my big concern. She will never get taken advantage of selling stocks versus cars and homes. I like your attitude, don't change, it fits you!!

My old Mopars are my toys. I just have a list of what I figure she call sell my cars and parts for. She can do it no problem. I have life long Mopar friends that could sell the stuff off and enjoy it and make a commission too.
One day I will maybe get so damn old, I will get don to just one car, or maybe 2, or maybe.......

I thought that I had sold 9 cars in the last two years, but the post above reminded me that I actually sold 10. I forgot about the 68 Imperial convertible project car that I sold last year. All but 3 were real projects! The other 3 were complete decent projects. And I thought that I only bought 4 but there were 5 that I bought. My memory is not what it used to be!
