David Grubnic out - J.R. Todd in full-time

An announcement yesterday out of Kalitta Motorsports that David Grubnic has been moved to a Technical Consultant position and J.R. Todd is now in as the full-time driver of the Kalitta Top Fuel car.
Gee, I wonder how Bob Vandergriff feels about it all - since he said on the nationally televised event coverage last week that Todd was under contractural obligation and "not going anywhere" since this was going to be Vandergriff's last year in the seat and Todd was going in next year as his driver.

Here's your usual Tuesday-before-the-event reminder before the 5th race of the 2014 season, the 5th Annual NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, April 11-13, at zMAX Dragway in Concord, NC.
As always, your picks need to be posted before Pro Qualifying starts on Friday, April 11 in order to qualify for all event bonus points. Pro qualifying is scheduled to start at 1:15PM EDT (10:15AM PDT).
The weather forecast for the weekend calls for partly cloudy skies and 75-77F high temp with similar conditions and 0% chance of rain through the weekend.
The Four-Wide Nationals entry list is posted on http://www.nhra.com/events/entrylist05.aspx and now shows 16 Top Fuel, 17 Funny Car, 16 Pro Stock and 23 Pro Stock Motorcycle entries, but the counts are still subject to change.

Note: I will be in Las Vegas at the "Mopars At The Strip" event so the scheduled qualifying times will be the cutoff time for posting your picks or any changes - weather delays or not. Sorry, but this is the only fair way to do this since I will not have access to a TV to see the actual start time of Pro qualifying
Also, at this time I am planning to take a few vacation days and play 'tour director' through some of our beautiful National Parks in Arizona and southern Utah for a few friends visiting here from Australia. I may not be back home until April 18, but I will update the race standings immediately upon returning back and getting access to my home computer again.
Plans may change but that's how it is for now.

good luck guys, crap only 1 hr of qualifying 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM PST, ESPN2 will be televised tonight, that sad really sad state of NHRA coverage... some deal needs to be made to show more & some of the Pro-Mod & other S/S or Comp. Eliminator classes etc., now I can see not esp. super street 10.90 or super gas 9.90, with all the electronics killing all the power, makes for boring TV coverage or the same stuff for super comp, throttle stop right out of the gate & open up again 150 feet out or something, making a 6.90-7.50 car/dragster usually run 8.90... But some of the worthy cars & the other classes should be given some TV coverage & better "Live Coverage for the Pro's especially", Pro Mod, my personal favorite & TA/D & TA/FC has limited coverage...

I agree, the coverage from ESPN is terrible. Sometimes we have to wait till 11:00 pm for the coverage to start. We also do need to see Pro mod and s/s .

Congratulations to 'IEduster' (FABO) for being "Top Picker Eliminator" for the Four-Wide Nationals with a great point total of 103.0 points for this once-a-year event. '6pk2goDemon' (FABO) came in as the event runner-up with another nice point total of 96.0.
'Budnicks' was the top FBBO player with 85.5 points for this event.

NOTES:
1. 'super-bee_ski' (FBBO) did not post any picks for the second event in a row so, per game rules, his picks from the prior event were carried over again to this event but he was not eligible for any event bonus points.

I take small consolation in dropping only one spot after the horrendous picks the squirrel in my yard made. He should have known that the 4 wide is a total free for all - capable of screwing up even the best drivers. I think I'll ask a chipmunk this next race since they're finally out of hibernation.
