2016 6th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - Get Ready To Make Your Picks!!!

Congrats to stroked340 (FABO) for winning the opening NHRA National Event Top Qualifier title of the 2016 NHRA season at the Winternationals with an outstanding total of 22.5 bonus points. stroked340 picks qualified #1 in Funny Car, #2 in Pro Stock and #3 in Top Fuel. Way to go!
super-bee_ski (FBBO) was in the #2 qualifier spot with 22.0 bonus points. More great picks!
Good luck all in eliminations tomorrow!

We have 16 players starting off the 2016 NHRA "Pick 'Em game season and 15 different driver combos made up of:
* 5 different Top Fuel drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There could be two head-to-head matchups in the 2nd round of eliminations if they all survive the opening round.
* 6 different Funny Car drivers and, again, no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There are also 2 potential head-to-head matchups in Round 2 of eliminations.
* 6 different Pro Stock drivers picked this week with one Round 1 head-to-head matchup between two Mopar team mates, #8 qualifier Jeg Coughlin Jr. (4 picks) and #9 qualifier Erica Enders-Stevens (6 picks). Also a possibility of two head-to-head matchups in the 2nd round of eliminations.

Good luck all!

Here are the results and point standings following completion of the opening NHRA event of the 2016 season.
Just like the last two years, big names going down early had a major impact on the point totals this week.

Congratulations to 'alsant' (FBBO) for being "Top Picker Eliminator" for the Circle K Winternationals, the first event of 2016, with a very nice point total of 92.0 points with a class win in Pro Stock. His Top Fuel pick went to the semi-finals but lost there, and his Top fuel pick went one round of eliminations. He was helped by event bonus points for ET in Pro Stock.
'super-bee_ski' (FBBO) was right behind with 80.0 points with a class win in Top Fuel. His Funny Car pick went one round of eliminations, and his Pro Stock pick lost in the opening round.. He also picked up ET bonus points in both Top Fuel and Funny Car.
'johnnycuda' was the top FABO picker with 77.0 points.

Nice work alsant and Ski! Nice showing for FBBO taking the top 2 spots.

The broadcasts were somewhat of an improvement so far. At least they started on time for the most part. I think one was a little bit late, but at least it wasn't an HOUR late! Looks like they got Reif to throttle it back some, so that made it better. He's good as long as he's under control. They need to get their graphics dialed in. They had the wrong driver winning a race in PS (he was in the next pair), they didn't show who won at the end of each run with their graphics most of the time (the green indicator), and in qualifying the font is too small to see the times very easily. But I suspect they'll get it figured out. I also like that they replay eliminations at other times throughout the week in case you miss the broadcast on Sunday. Tony P will smooth out with time, but he was pretty good for the most part. They should figure out that showing more Leeza Diehl is good for ratings.:icon_keel:

Sorry to see what happened to Gary Densham - one of my favorite guys. I hope he's able to put a car back together again and be back out there in the future. Glad he wasn't hurt.

Congrats Al and Ski!

Yes, the Fox broadcast was good but there is some improvement needed. Like Bel said, they need to make the fonts bigger, cant read them. Maybe I need a bigger TV? LOL I liked the way ESPN showed the tree and reaction times at the top of the screen. They get it dialed in I'm sure. I want Mike Dunn back but he's on to bigger things. LOL

Hope Gary can come back I always liked the guy,
even back when he was the Teachers Pet F/C , self funded {loner} shop teacher
