2016 6th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - Get Ready To Make Your Picks!!!

That's good because I'm 224.5 points behind the current leader
12 rounds to make up when everyone basically picks
the same 4 people, just sometimes names shuffled here & there...

hard to make up any ground except maybe in qualifying
it's still a total crap shoot, I've had the 1st to 3rd place drivers all year
& I'm just middle of the pack, go figure...

I rarely pick Hagan or Schumacher
almost always Ron Capps {my favorite driver} & Antron Brown

Here's your Tuesday before the event reminder about the upcoming U.S. Nationals event in Indianapolis, IN, with qualifying starting Friday, Sept. 2, at 7:15PM EDT (4:15PM PDT).
Current event entry list on NHRA.com shows 20 Top Fuel, 19 Funny Car (including Alexis DeJoria), 20 Pro Stock and 24 Pro Stock Motorcycle entries.
Post up your picks!

This is the final event of the NHRA "Regular Season". Both NHRA and our "Pick 'Em" game will reset the points following the U.S. Nationals.
Watch for a future post on how the "Pick 'Em" game points will be reset.

I'll just go with my BIR pics.

TF T Shumacher

Almost too late - here are my Indy picks:

TF: Antron Brown

Good luck to all!

Indy "U.S. Nationals" picks:

TOP FUEL: J.R. Todd

FUNNY CAR: Del Worsham

PRO STOCK: Gregg Anderson

PRO BIKE: Andrew Hines

I though about going with Angel P/SM, she's a great racer
but at the last minute went with a Harley only really because
they seem to have all the rules advantages & a better aero package
& winning so damn many races over the Buel's & Suzuki's now

Looks like it's going to be a fast US nats too

Here are the results and point standings following completion of the U.S. Nationals, the 18th event of the 2016 NHRA season, and the final event of the "regular season".

Congratulations to 'SSG Karg' (FABO) for the second week in a row being the "Top Eliminations Pickers" with a nice event total of 144.0 points. 'SSG Karg' picked the class winner in both Top Fuel and Funny Car. Hius Pro Stock Motorcycle pick lost in the finals and his Pro Stock pick lost in the opening round of eliminations. He was also helped by E.T. bonus points in Funny Car and speed bonus points in Top Fuel.
'64BEL' (FBBO) was the event runner-up with 131.5 points.

Here's where the bonus points were earned if you picked the right drivers:

Top Fuel
E.T. - Clay Millican, 3.692 during qualifying
Speed - Tony Schumacher, 330.31 during qualifying and Shawn Langdon, 330.31 during the opening round of eliminations

Funny Car
E.T. - Matt Hagan, 3.858 during qualifying
Speed - Jack Beckman, 333.08 during qualifying

Pro Stock
E.T. - Bo Butner, 6.571 during qualifying
Speed - Vincent Nobile, 210.31 during qualifying

Pro Stock Motorcycle
E.T. - Angelle Sampey, 6.812 during qualifying
Speed - L.E. Tonglet, 197.25 during qualifying

Here are the game point standings after the completion of the "regular season":

2041.0 - stroked340 (FABO) no change in the point standing position

1967.0 - Nick2317 (FBBO) no change
1964.0 - 6PK2goDemon (FABO) no change
1909.5 - alsant (FBBO) no change

1839.5 - 71dartswinger (FABO) no change

1835.5 - Gpuller (FBBO) +1
1814.5 - cuda20 (FABO) +2
1814.0 - Back in Time (FABO) -2

1795.5 - Budnicks (FBBO) -1
1774.5 - Duster79 (FABO) +2
1771.0 - ocdart (FABO) no change
1761.0 - johnnycuda (FABO) -2

1685.5 - 64BEL (FBBO) +1
1638.5 - memike (FABO) -1
1513.5 - super-bee_ski (FBBO) no change
1318.5 - SSG Karg (FABO) no charge
916.0 - jimw (FBBO) no change

The next event is the 9th annual NHRA Carolina Nationals, Sept. 16-18, at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, NC. As always, your picks must be posted before the start of Pro Qualifying that is scheduled to start at 3:15PM EDT (12:15PM PDT) on Friday Sept. 16.

The entry list on NHRA.com currently shows 16 Top Fuel, 17 Funny Car, 15 Pro Stock and 13 Pro Stock Motorcycle entries but those are always subject to change by raceday.
Post your picks and good luck!

And now here's the information on how the points were reset. The same as the past several years:

The plan is based on NHRA's model but is even more competitive. NHRA gives the points leader a 30-point lead over 2nd-place, then 10 points separate each succeeding place (third, fourth, fifth, etc.).
But, just like the last three years, here's what I did after the U.S. Nationals as a starting point for the remaining six races for the 2015 FABO Championship and bragging rights: 1st place points were re-set at 2000 points. 2nd place was reset at 1970 points. Each succeeding place is separated by a maximum of 10 points unless the existing point totals difference following the U.S. Nationals is less than 10 points; existing point differences were used where the difference was less than 10 points. So if you're in 3rd place or lower in the standings and 40 points behind the person in front of you before the points were reset, you're now only 10 points behind after the points were reset; but if you were only 2 points behind the person in front of you before the points were reset, you're still only 2 points behind them after the points reset.

This tightens the points up even more from 1st to 17th and will make the last six races even more competitive.

As before, this is going to be fun!

Before you look at the reset points, please read the following IMPORTANT INFORMATION because it won't be reposted. You will miss out if you don't read it.
* It is your responsibility from here on out to post your picks on time without a reminder. I'm not going to post reminders or send PM's.
* The "pick carry over" that was initiated last year is no longer in effect. If you don't post picks before the start of Pro Qualifying at each event then you will miss out on all event bonus points. If you don't post picks before the start of eliminations, you will miss out on all points for that event.
* If you miss posting picks for two consecutive events during the "Countdown" you will "lose your sponsor" and have to sit out the rest of the season. 'jimw' (FABO) hasn't posted new picks for the last eleven (11) events. His picks have been "carried over" for each of the past eleven events, but that will end if he doesn't post new picks after the second event of the "Countdown".
* The only way to guarantee your picks are posted is to make sure you post them prior to the deadline, or "lock" your picks in for the remainder of the season. As before, you can always change your "locked-in" picks by posting new ones on the game thread.

OK, here are the reset points:

2000.0 - stroked340 (FABO)
1970.0 - Nick2317 (FBBO)
1967.0 - 6pk2goDemon (FABO)
1957.0 - alsant (FBBO)
1947.0 - 71dartswinger (FABO)

1943.0 - Gpuller (FBBO)
1933.0 - cuda20 (FABO)
1932.5 - Back in Time (FABO)
1922.5 - Budnicks (FBBO)
1912.5 - Duster79 (FABO)
1909.0 - ocdart (FABO)
1899.0 - johnnycuda (FABO)
1889.0 - 64BEL (FBBO)
1879.0 - memike (FABO)
1869.0 - super-bee_ski (FBBO)
1859.0 - SSG Karg (FABO)
1849.0 - jimw (FBBO)

Make your picks wisely for the final six NHRA events of the year.
Good luck and have fun!

That's good because I'm 224.5 points behind the current leader...

...and now you're only 111.0 points behind!
Less than half what your were behind before the points reset.

Oops! Thought 64Bel had written the original.

Budnicks is only 77.5 points out.
