295/65/15 Fitment

Anyone running 295/65/15's on the rear of their car ? Any pics ?

I have a 68 Charger and I have some 15 x 8 Centerlines with 5" backspace , you think they would rub or be ok ?

Pretty sure it's only Mickey Thompson who sell this size now , BFG no longer do them

I know 50 profile is more common for 295's but they are too short for my liking, I prefer the taller 65 profile

how wide is your rim and what backspacing? I have 275 on the Bee on 10 inch rim with 4 1/2 BS.

Hoosier makes a drag radial in that size too.
That's a LOT of tire for the rear of a car with no spring changes or rear narrowing. And a 15x8 is the bare minimum width for that tire. But if you're gonna have a chance of it fitting, the 5" backspace will give you a decent shot. If it does rub the spring, a spacer could solve the problem. If it rubs the fender, oops, too bad.
You'll have to measure your own car, they do vary for clearance.

Something to note.

Awhile ago I had a 69 Charger and was running 295/50 on 15x10 rim and I was going around a long sweeping corner fast and hit a dip. Lateral force combined with spring flex caused tire to rub fender hard enough to spin the car. After that I went 275s to prevent that happening again.

I think you'd better look at your tires again for dimensions. That doesn't look like a 33+" tall tire to me...... (295/45x18 maybe?)

A 295 should really go on a 10" wide rim. People put them on 8" rims, but tit causes them to crown in the middle and not lay flat like they will on a 10" rim.

I've had 295/50R/15 on my 49 Ford Business Coupe with 10" rims for 30-years, so I have a little experience with that combination.

Remember a 295 is a mm number and it equates to 11.6" tread face.

We have the 295/65r15 M/T e.t. streets on our 69 charger. The lower front corner of the quarter was previously tweeked with a hammer from when we ran 10.5x30.5 slicks. The rearend needs to go back 1/2" minimum to clear a stock quarter which is what I wished we had done. I think we have a 8" rim and a 4 3/4 Backspacing. A 5" would be better as it can rub the upper/outside of the fenderwell when we put more weight..i.e. passengers in the car. The 295 65 is tall enough a 8" rim works ok. On our other 69 charger the rearend is set back 1" for 31" tall tires to clear the quarter. This is w the 295/65s.

Yeah I know 15 x 10 is better for that size tire but the centerlines or ARE Outlaws I like only come in about 4” BS on a 15 x 10 so would definitely rub

I already have a set of older 15 x 8 Centerlines which have the 5” backspace

You will have to measure for your car. Typically, 15x8 rears have a 4.5" backspace.

Watching this thread- I want to put 30-31 inch rears on my Charger which would work well with the 3:55 diff I took out of my RR because it was too much for my 295/50s. I replaced with 3:23 so I could drive it on the highway.
Cragar makes a 10" SS wheel with zero offset which fits my RR wheel wells nice.
Summit sells a 285/65r15, looks good in pictures but gets bad reviews about being difficult to balance.

True, I think your correct, they are the largest profile Nitto do in a 295/18

I have two pairs of 15x8 1/2 with 3.5 bs. I can't get them on anything I own, with a proper sized tire on em. Too close to the fender. 4 1/2 would have been perfect.
15x8 with 3.75 might work (3/4" farther away from the fender than mine) but like said above, you'll have to measure on YOUR car.
I have some 15x8 steelies with 4" backspace, that I put 255s on cause the 275 would have been too close to the fender (in a 62 savoy) Same car with 4.5-4.75bs has 295/55x15 equivalent on it.
