Does anyone know if the intakes are interchangable between years on the 318 poly, like can you put a late 50s intake on a 64?
Thanks! ! That helps a tonThe gouge I found while researching to build my '66 poly:
P/N. CU. BBL YR
1619826 277 4 1956
1731609 303 4 1956
1732479 318 2x4 1957
1851762 318 4 1958 to 1960(?)
1859298 318 4 1960 to 1962
1859229 318 4 1962
I know the 318s are interchangeable, and think the 277 & 303 will also interchange. I put a 1859229 on my '66. The tricky part lies in kickdown linkage if you are running an auto. I ended up making my own (longer) rod at the carb. Shifts up fine, in/ out of passing gear fine, but does not down shift unless I am under 5mph. Making a left without stopping, it stays in drive.
Hope some of this is helpful.
Longram330 is correct. I had to do this for mine. I also cut the bottom off insert so the sending unit would protrude down into the water path more.Hi
Don't forget the temp sending unit changed in '64 so you'll have to install a bushing , 1/4" pipe to 1/8" pipe in order to use the '64 sender in a pre-'64 manifold.
nope but im afraid too.You ever look at Stromberg prices?
new ones $$. Looked on ebay $125 for ok one.nope but im afraid too.
