375 runs, aprox 900+ hp. What parts will it need? Lets see

Ring will be here Friday. But my wife and I will be at the Detroit Autorama that day. Weve been their 47 out of our 48 years together. She was sick one year. Got the oil pan, trans pan, and header bungs welded in last night. Today reassembled the oil pan swinging pick up, baffles, and windage sceen. Retorqured the left head and install the pushrods, rockers, and set the lash. Look at what .824" lift looks like on the intake rocker. We have family get togethers this weekend. So hopefully it can get it glued together Monday. Let it set over night and retorque the head Tuesday. Then install the rockers and pusrods. At that time it'll be ready to set back in hole.

This was one fast rebuild! Way to stay on it Doug.

Its ready to install. Found an oiling issue that most likely caused the worn rocker shafts. Had to groove the lifters to connect the lifter bushing feed hole to the lifter band on the intake. And the pushrod hole to the oil band on the exhaust. They are different because the intake pushrod is off set in the lifter.it oils correctly now.. The valve covers will go on and I'll air check it todayfor any leaks. Then in it goes.

After Mondays hold up today was a step back. Air checked the motor. The brand new rear main had leakage all teh way around the crank at 3psi. Off with the pan and main bridge. The seal looks perfect. Have no idea why it leaks. Put the old trusty 12 year old seal back in. Let the RTV set overnight and retest tommorow. This seal has never leaked.

Pretty cool that you can test it before hand. That’s saving a ton of trouble.

Well its done, took 6 weeks. Trans and engine freshened. Finished the 535 as well. Spent 10 days total waiting a for piston coating, ring that I bent, and the valve & seat grind. Had to remove the assembled valve train to groove the lifters, pull the pan to swap a brand new rear main that leaked, repair a front caliper mount issue, drill holes in the wheelie bar to allow more adjustment. And of course everything was cleaned an got paint touch up. Runs perfect. Readusted the carbs as it had both shear plates leaking at the intake. Now it idles at 1200 in or out of gear as smooth as a stock 318. Taking my wife on vacation. When we get back I'll rip my dually apart for fender replacement (both), hood repaint, suspension overhaul (240k miles), oil leak repair, bigger turbo, and an exhaust brake. Race season starts in May.
