the "better" design is best for some applications but not all.Hope you don't mind me asking but why wouldn't you want a better design in main bearings?

Not Mine[/QUOT
that picture isn't a mopar b engine main bearing set. i'll double check but pretty sure that clevite number is a full groove bearing.
looks like those RB main bearings. 383 bearings are smaller.Have you thought of buying a set of -.001 U/S bearings?

that's what i have now. thanks for the offer; need .010" under anyway.Well mine are full groove standards but they are 2006 so you are welcome to them may make a difference
Not sure how tight you want it but maybe try .001 bearings they do sell them.

stock build. i'll look into those.Clevite MS1795V are 1/2 groove. I prefer using 1/2 groove if the power levels and rpm expected are mild.
my catalog shows those bearings for 2.750 journal.Clevite MS1795V are 1/2 groove. I prefer using 1/2 groove if the power levels and rpm expected are mild.
Sorry - you are correct. I was using an iPhone sitting in the car and it wasn't a good way to try and help. I went down and checked my records - the last 383 I did (December) I used full groove because that's what was available. They may have phased them out. Full grooves have been pushed by the magazines for years now. Even King only list full groove now.
i was looking at king too and couldn't make heads or tails out of their on line catalog. i think stock bearings are extinct. the full groove P type bearings are giving me anywhere from .0031" to .0035" oil clearance; way too loose.Sorry - you are correct.
