I just finished reading an article by Hemming’s called “1968 Road Runner Buyer’s Guide”, in which the mentioned for a 4.10 Sure Grip. I was aware of such an option and hadn’t seen it mentioned anywhere else. I’d like to see more proof of this option and “if” it is an option, what would the fender tag code be?

Not sure what you mean by "proof". That certain cars with certain engines were equipped with a 4.10 Dana ?

Literature, Fender Tag, Build Sheet, anyone with firsthand knowledge

68 track pack........ dana 3.54

69 - ? ........ track pack or super track pack dana 4.10

no?

With 383, in 1968, with 8 3/4, 3.23 was standard, with 3.55 as option. The 3.91 came along for 1969.

A lot of magazine writers weren't born when these cars were produced. Unfortunately a lot of wrong information is in print. It will be confusing for future generations to restore these cars correctly. Youtube is even worse.

I just went through a retrospective magazine piece which was included in the paperwork with my latest GTX. It made me cringe with the number of inaccuracies. The factory sales brochure made the choices pretty clear.

Here 1st hand in/from the 'mid-size 5', Dealership ordering & sales brochure
(my parents had that very book too, in the glove box, when I later bought the car from them)

doesn't mean you couldn't have gotten
depending on the specific sales rep or service dept.
a 'dealer installed' 4.10:1 ring-gear (
I'd assume) in either
a Dana-60 or 8.750"

My stepfather Bob, (an old S/S drag racer)
wanted a 3.91:1 rear gear, it wasn't offered in an
HD suspension/Hi-Perf. Axle Pac. Opt.
a 742 case w/large 2790 u-joints/8.750" w/optional sure-grip diff.
in late Nov. 1967
in my Mom's 1st new 'ordered from the factory'
a 1968 Sport Satellite HT, 383cid 4bbl 4 speed (23 spline),
GG1 & White guts/bucket seat (no console) & white top
that they purchased/ordered new at
SF Chrysler Plymouth
(
IIRC, I was about 8-ish, but I do certainly recall the discussion with the sales rep,
Bob wanted a different gear, they said they'd make it happen
)
He had/asked & got it installed at the dealership/service center,
before we received delivery of the car...
(
IIRC the opt. HD/Hi-perf. Axle org. optional 3.55:1 w/sure-grip gears, were in a box in the trunk)
They paid a nominal fee...
I owned that car in 1979 at 20 y/o, 1st hand knowledge, to about 1989...

The dealer installed process really opened the possibilities back then. My GTX was an untitled personal car of the local dealer from fall of ‘68 until 1972, and it picked up some odd stuff along the way.
