Starting my spring cleaning in the shop and came across a block with the following:

1228 T-41 on the front pad.

2406 R.L. On the side of the block

10 1 62

Just looking to confirm.

I'll take a stab at this and I'm sure many on this site will let me know where I'm wrong!

1228 December 28 ('62) assembly date
T-41 1963 413 engine
2406 First 4 of casting number for a '63-'65 max wedge (???)
10 1 62 block casting date

That’s not a max wedge engine, but it is a 63 413

Forgive me, but I’m getting guys sending me websites saying it’s a 62 413, 413 Max Wedge and 63 426 Wedge...

I have a code book but doesn’t identify with what I have.

Does it have valve clearance notches on the tops of the bores? If no then there is another reason why it is not. If it does have them it means nothing because Notches can be added to anything, but can’t be removed very easily.

A Max Wedge would have MP stamped on the top pad.
