you just killed your own case.. cant find emails,dont know the guys handle here...and its been years. theres hardly any proof of anything. so youve driven the car with the motor and now its garbage. stick a fork in it,this ones done on the time limit alone. this is just my opinion of course and doesnt mean squat. again,instead of wasting money,because 10k for a 440 seems a bit over the top. may i suggest you get a diff engine and get the car back up and enjoyable?

He changed his phone number and doesn’t respond to emails but hasn’t changed his address and I have confirmed he is still there. I’m debating going to his front door. I have to watch myself because if I do what I want I may lose my career that I worked hard to gain over a stupid engine. I have Hotmail emails saved. Again, I admitted guilt for entering a transaction with a builder that didn’t have a official engine building service. I tried to do it on the cheap and now I’m dealing with it. I’d rather wait and build a correct engine rather than slap a turd in the car. It’s been 8 years now. What’s a little longer.

TG that you already seem to realize this. do you have a friend whos a lawyer? do you know a local lawyer? how about a police officer? offduty for Witness. take him With you and a camera and record Everything that the builder says. otherwise,you dont have a case and all you are gonna do is drive yourself crazy. at the end of the day, is it going to be even worth your time and more monies to try to get this guy? the amount of time,plus the fact that you Used the engine after the build ... yes,i understand he lied about the build, but in court most do not understand these details and only look at the a + b = c. and finally. you keep saying junk and i keep telling you, there are a LOT of engines out there for sale right now. im not understanding how people label used motors as junk. why not post what engine you need for your build and i wouldnt be a bit surprised if one of the members here has something for you. in fact,id keep an eye on the Racers side of this forum, because you can usually detune a race motor easier than building a stock motor and it will have far better parts in it. again,im just sharing thoughts and opinion and doesnt mean squat. please dont be offended, im very blunt and not the most tactful guy in the world lol.

Just a thought. I bought a 440 from a motor home with 40k actual miles for $300 bucks. You can find good deals. At worst I could re gasket it and use it. Just sayin. 10k for an engine seems really expensive. I mean stroker kits are only 2500 to 3k. New.
Do a sonic test on your block and see just how thick the walls are. Worth it to do it. Any builder that's worth his salt will not have a rule about only going .030 over imo, and imo, that's kinda like biting off your nose to spite your face. Several years back, I built engines and rear ends and still do rear ends from time to time and did it from a small shop (1500 sq ft) behind my house. I wanted to make sure I did everything right so that nothing came back except repeat business. My labor was fairly cheap but the parts weren't and didn't get crazy with wild stuff. Mostly did mild street builds with few drag engines. The drag engines were usually for people that I knew. Had one catastrophic failure because of two cooks being in the kitchen and something got overlooked. Piston to head clearance to be exact so after that, no more cooks helping out. 100% of the time, people found me through word of mouth and where I'm going with this is how did you find this 'builder'? You may have mentioned it but if you did, I missed it. It's pretty sorry that he's not standing up for the shoddy work. Being a machinist sure didn't hurt things for me and being able to look at stuff and maybe seeing a problem before machining on something is an asset. For example, the meat around the hole for the pickup tube looks to be a bit on the thin side to me. Looks like there's enough there so long as the threads are not really tight. IE, if you start screwing in the tube and it gets tight way too early, then maybe going in a bit deeper with the tap might work. If that feels to be too tight then you have to modify the tube. Anyone can learn how to tap a hole but you have to know how different metals act when you start cutting into them. Cast iron is something that needs to be finessed....especially if it's thin. If you get all Lou Ferrigno with it, you'll either break the tap or crack the CI. Having a milling machine so you can mill the hole off center towards thicker meat is another option so long as the tube can clear things. Anyways, just my take on one thing.
