Hey all! Im wrapping up my 440 6bbl for my roadrunner and I'm hitting the PCV valve part.... Im wrapped up in this Wagner adjustable PCV valve situation and honestly it looks awesome. super trick. The issue is I'm having a tremendous amount of trouble finding a grommet. Does anyone have any leads on the grommet for this? Maybe someone that is running one? the block is a 71 440 ,The PCV is a 1.5" hole on the valve cover and the ID for the grommet has to be 3/4" . I believe the original one is 1.5" by 1" ?

Do you have stock steel covers or aluminum? I have them in both. They are different. Ford part number for the grommets. ME Wagner can get you the part numbers. Your new pcv valve is 3/4". Summit carries the part when you get a part number. Or I can do some digging when I go out to the shop.
Make sure that you have a baffle under it!

Wait I measured with a new guage, it’s definitely 1.5”

That’s great advice I’ll give them a call! It’s stock valve covers , 71 HP motor, just measured with a new digital gauge it’s definitely 1.5” hole… I’ll check for the ford on summit once I get the part number. If you find it it would be extremely helpful but if not no problem I’ll call Wagner too !

With the grommet in, the id will be .75 for the valve to fit it there.

For anyone reading this later that has the same issue as me, needing a 3/4" PCV valve opening grommet but to fit into the 1.5" hole on the stock 440 valve cover (aftermarket uses 1.22"). Here is some info / I finally found a solution. There is no easy order clear single answer, and the super nice people at Wagner also did not know, although they said they get asked about it often and wished they did. An issue with current grommet manufacturers like Dorman is that the listed " OD " measurement is actually the total diameter at the top of the grommet at the top of the flap... Which is not helpful, because you need to know the OD of the part that sits down into the hole, not the flap that covers up the valve cover surface around the hole. So I bought like 15 different ones, and finally found a 2 part solution. Dorman Item # 42344 fits into the 1.5" hole, but the new hole is now 1" , not 3/4". Dorman 42339 is a multi pack of grommet plugs, and one of them fits perfectly into the outer grommet and takes the hole down to 3/4" , the Wagner valve fits great (or any 3/4" PCV). Its a very tight fit but I was told by Wagner that its better that than for to be loose. I don't love that it's two grommets. But I could not find another solution.

Sorry, I forgot about you. Writing a note now to remember to see if I can find the number. Just in case you want to get a singular fix. I am surprised that Wagner didn't respond with a number, it's been two or three years, but I got the number from them. Here's my '72.

That would be great! I would definitely buy a single one to avoid any weirdness. Yeah Gene said he thought he may have had it but then couldn’t find it… maybe lost or somewhere hard to find in their system. If you find it, gene asked me to call them and give it to them again so it would help both me and them! Haha

Okay, I have the one shown, the other one is in a Mopar performance cast aluminum valve cover. Will get back with you later when I find it.

Okay, think this is it. That Ford # is at Summit, it's 1.22 od, but that is what's on my 318. The other #'s are cast aluminum cover for Mopar Performance.

Hmm okay is the hole on the valve cover 1.22” ? If so, yes that’s the easy one to find , Mr. Gasket makes them, Mancini , etc
. What I’m having trouble with is the stock steel 440 valve covers , the hole in the cover is 1.5” not 1.22”. Basically the OD has to be 1.5” for the 440 stock covers. Maybe the 318 is different ?

I don't think that .030 will make a difference. Won't have that car out of storage till the end of this month, if you want to wait. There is overlap, think that the hole size is the same.
