I'm looking at a '67 B body with the original 440/375 that has been rebuilt. I do not have the rebuild details at all. I don't know if mods were made. Assuming a stock rebuild, is 93 octane suitable for it? The car has a factory 4-spd/factory shifter. Is the factory linkage Mopar or Hurst? Last, what is the best disc brake conversion? I'm learning! Thanks guys!

Check which heads it has. The early heads don't do well with the regular gas of today.

Wilwood makes several different models of user friendly, easy to install kits. In several price ranges

I have a 440 stroked to a 494 555 hp. It runs fine on 93 octane. Your 440 375 hp would be good all day long on it. Wish we had 93 in CA, max is 91 but I'm finding it seems to run ok on that too. Although not ideal.

My recollection that the stock 4 spd shifter was a "copy" of the Hurst linkage but not quite as stout. I could be wrong. My '65 Coronet came with a Hurst Super Shifter. Much bigger, stiffer rods than the stock stuff. The car also came with a broken 8 3/4 rear & one good 4 speed & 2 broken 4 speed gear boxes. I switched to a 727 & never went back.

66Satellite47, I have been raised on my Hurst Comp Plus in my '67 Vette and the precision of it has me hooked. So if I get a "B" body with a 4-spd, I want the same gear shifting feeling. Thanks for the info.

Stock would be Inland shifter with reverse lockout lever. In mid-68 Chrysler went back to the Hurst. You can convert to the Hurst setup pretty easily.

Depending on your cam, you would need to know what the dynamic compression ratio is, to know what octane you need. The earlier Inland shifters don't hold a candle to the Hurst. Check with PST, a sponsor here, for the best disc-brake conversion for you.

There is nothing like a Hurst shifter. New question! What was the cfm rating on the factory AFB?

93 octane should be ok; you'll hear pinging if not.
