WOW! That IS cheap. So much so that I'd be a little concerned about quality and reliability.http://www.ebay.com/itm/232005380209?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
A cheapo spare. this was posted in another thread. I'd test it to make sure it works before depending on it for a spare. They sold a **** load of them.

New somebody else posted it but didn't known which thread. Saved it on my ebay watch list so I wouldn't have to remember where I saw it. Sorry I couldn't give you credit.I posted those. I bought 2 for spares only. They came from Mancini Racing. I haven't tested them yet ( car is still all buttoned up in the garage till after the last of the snow and salt is gone). Will post results when I do.
Thanks for all the help, advise, and stories (at least I know I am not the only one with this issue). Bulkhead looks good everything is bright and clean. I think i can rule out wiring because its fairly new and all connectors look good. Ground on the orange box is good, no corsion behing it. I am purchasing a new coil tonight, I have a new voltage regulator, and I guess I have to order a new orange box, my spare in the trunk has a crack in it so I am scrapping that thing.
Sixpactogo where did you get that bracket for the orange box? seems that would aid in keeping it cool because its off the firewall.
The bracket on my Challenger came off of a 74 Challenger parts car I had. I think 71& up B & E bodies had them when they went to electronic ignition. I see someone on Ebay is selling them with the control box. I have seen them for sale elsewhere too a while back.
Here is a better pic of mine. Just a note. I know you said there was no corrosion behind your orange box but I didn't have any either. Just too much paint and the screws were not making good enough contact to ground. If you have a good ohm meter, test between the box and the negative post on your battery. You shouldn't see much more than .2 - .5 ohms. Another thing, your voltage regulator is not the problem if it is charging properly when running.![]()
Thanks Sixpactogo, I will look for one. Someone told be Classic industries sells them as well brand new, but I will have to see which is cheaper, right now a friend has a car that he is parting it may have what i am looking for. I will keep you posted
I just got one of those $10 orange boxes in. It looks brand new. No scratches, no dings, looks like it's never been installed. I put it on the Roadrunner and the engine fired right up. My carb's still having issues so I don't know how much better performance it's giving, but it does seems to be working. I just ordered another one.
