6 bbl Nitrous Oxide system from Nitrous Express

I'm going to order it. They swear the plates fit our Mopar Holley 2 bbls. That will be the first thing I check.
I'm sending my 3 2bbl carbs to Promax soon for the whole kit of parts they offer to be installed and "pre-tuned" on their dyno mule. Outboard carbs get the jetable metering plates, rear carb gets the throttle plate with the angled idle mixture screws so it can be adjusted with the carb installed and running, and the center carb gets their "advanced design" metering block. They will also check the power valve for my idle vacuum reading (11" Hg IIRC) and change that if need be.
It will be then that I install the NX nitrous system. I have and will be posting in the Racers Hangout on the results, but I am posting this here for my 6bbl/6pack brothers.

That is sweet! As we discussed, I like the option of a 2-stage system. The BIG think to look out for is the clearance of the nitrous/fuel fitting on the back of the center carb vs. the front of the rear carb....it is TIGHT in there, especially with a nitrous/fuel line running into the front of the rear carb as well. Any pictures you could post of the clearance (ruler?) between the center plate & the rear plate would be appreciated.

You should be 100% OK (with good gas) running at least a 100hp-125hp shot. Above 150hp, I'd start thinking of timing retards. At 200-250hp, start thinking of engine modifications beyond just forged pistons. 2618 forged pistons are supposed to be better for nitrous (vs. the other forged alloy). Nitrous motors are supposed to work better with good-flowing exhaust (larger exhaust valves, larger exhaust cam lobes, headers). MAKE SURE YOU DON'T RUN LEAN...so put in maybe a Holley black pump (or at least a Holley blue) and enjoy. I've run nitrous on almost all my cars since 1983 (125hp shot on my Roadrunner with a 4bbl.)....nobody else in town had it back then.

Although "pricey" I am actually considering this as an insurance policy for avoiding timing and lean fuel condition issues, and simplification of the plumbing. I won't go this route until I try the NX system first with a 50hp shot center plate, but if that works, my next step may be to incorporate this. With a gallon of high octane race fuel, it further reduces the need for timing retard.
Pretty smart, but straightforward concept.

There's a guy in my neighborhood running a 351W with a big nitrous system (250hp?) running one of those. It's an interesting idea. I think it would be a really good idea if you could "purge" the fuel somehow when you switched over to it or the first 1-2 seconds of nitrous will be running on your regular fuel. Honestly, all you need is 93 octane unless you have massively high compression. With my 125hp 4bbl. setup, that's all I ever ran and I didn't even pull out any timing....just forged pistons and the old Direct Connection purple shaft 292/509 cam with one Holley blue fuel pump...never an issue.

Not with this stand alone system. ALL of the fuel for the nitrous system comes from the dedicated fuel cell, and the pressure for it comes from the dedicated fuel pump and pressure regulator.

From the looks of them, I have flat top stock 1971 440 pistons w/a slight valve relief IIRC (been a couple of years since I had the heads off). Same cam...old school purple stripe flat tappet 292° .509"...sounds awesome, especially with my Doug's cutouts open around 900 rpm.

I've wondered about that. I mean, the carburetors are using fuel too, from the gas tank, and that's burning inside the engine with the nitrous too. I'm sure it doesn't hurt to throw in some race fuel with the stand alone system.

$900+ wow! Now I am glad I am trying to piece together an older NOS brand Sixpack set up I found. I already have the plates (6 actually) & solenoids, just need to piece the rest of it together & get it bolted on someday & work on the tune with jetting.

Being a one man small business, and that is servicing medical equipment at my shop and onsite, and not having any nitrous experience, I'd rather pay a few hundred more, have all new stuff, and most importantly everything I should need + tech support if I don't, or when I want to switch from center to outbound carbs only, and then maybe all 3 carbs.
Saving time that I can use to do my work that I am proficient in, and relying on Nitrous Express to do and help with what they are proficient in is the best option for me

After a mix up by NX when they sent a 2bbl spacer plate but I paid for the spray plate, I have the spray plate now. Funds are tight at the moment and I'm sending my carbs to Promax (parts already paid for) so I will test fit the spray plate any day now.
I really like the design how the plate has holes machined in it for NO2 and fuel to come out instead of a bar.
