Been a long time away and trying to get reacquainted with the Mopar way again. I have a 65' Belvedere II (4-speed) with a 383 that was rebuilt (.060 over) with stock flat top pistons, it currently has a Weiand "Action Plus" intake ( model #8008). I need to pick a cam, lifters, headers and carburetor to complete the package.
I'm thinking:
Intake - keep what I have but open to change.
Lifters - stock hydraulic
Carb - Edelbrock #1406 in a 600CFM size
Headers - TTI 1 7/8" dia
Cam - so many choices my head hurts!!!! I want a good driver with a little of the lopey sound that was so cool when you were 17 years old :D

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One of the best intakes out there now is the Edelbrock Performer RPM which would work well with the carb that you have in mind or even larger such as a 650 or 660 cfm and it will still clear the hood. Headers are a good choice also, pricey but good. There are many cams available that will give you what you want and considering you are more after the sound you may want to go with a 383 HP replacement cam such as a Competition Cams CL21-671-4 which is a nostalgia grind for street use. I would also change the timing chain and lifters while you are at it.

Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold and a 284/484 Mopar Performance camshaft..

i've got a new comp cams 282-.495 solid with lifters i'd like to sell. more versatile than a hydraulic.

I built a 383 for my friends 67 Cuda like that... Flat top pistons, stock cast heads, 284 / .484 Mopar purple Cam, Performer intake, 750cfm vac secondary Holley carb, 727 w/ reverse shift manual valve body, TCI hole shot converter, 3.91:1 posi rear.
It ran so consistent in low 14's all day long! Very streetable, and sounded pretty healthy too!
Turned out pretty decent for a street car / cruiser....
