Can I run a 255 60 15 on a 15 X 7 wheel on the front of a 66 Sat? If not what is a good size that will not rub. I thought about a 215 65 15 also.

235 60 15 works great on my 67 coronet.255 might rub, depends on wheel back spacing.if you try to run one that big up front check for rubbing inside as well as the fender.

Isn't that tire about 10" wide? If so, a 7" rim is too small for it.

Yes, are you talking about a 255 60 15 because the section width is 10". The 215 65 15 originally came on third generation camaros on a 15 X 7 wheel.

215 65 15:
Tire Diameter 26.00 in.
Section Width 8.70 in.
Tread Width 7.00 in.
Minimum Recommended Wheel Width 6.00 in.
Maximum Recommended Wheel Width 7.50 in.

255 60 15
Tire Diameter 27.01 in.
Section Width 9.73 in.
Tread Width 8.20 in.
Minimum Recommended Wheel Width 7.00 in.
Maximum Recommended Wheel Width 9.00 in.

...also depends on ride height. My 66 is pretty low, and 215 70 15s on 5th Ave 15x7s rub on the outside when turning.

I think I have decided to stay with 14's. Actually found a tire that is wider than 255 60 15 for 14" wheel. Plus Stockton Wheel sells 14 X 7 & 8" wheel with any backspace that will retain my original spinner style hubcaps. The tire is 275 55 14 gonna mount on Stockton 40 series wheel 14 X 8 with 4.5 backspace.

I ran 215 by 15 by 60 on the front and as wide as I could on the rear. I don't care for wide tires up front

Assuming you were also dring a `66...how wide was that on the rear that you could run?

Most will agree that a 15 X 7 with 255 60 15 is comfortable in the wheel well. Some will say a 275 60 15 will fit on a 15 X 8 wheel. personally I have decided to run a 275 55 14 on a 14 X 8 wheel with 4.5 backspacing. If you were wanting to know for a 66-67 b- body.

66-67 B-body.

I have a 66 plymouth satellite and the front & rear rims are both 15 x 7 with 4.5 Backspacing and the tire are.

1. front 245/60/15

2. Rear 275/60/15

No rubbing at all on the rears i did trim a 1/2 piece off the wheel lip that turns in under the wheel well on the rears now its a snug fit for sure getting it in with the springs in the stock location but after they are in i have at least 1 1/8 on the front side & 1 1/4 on the back side.

Fronts work good with just a little rubbing at the back edge under hard left or right turns. But under normal turning no problems.

I really love the looks and stance of your car. Good luck on the mini tub adventure. I am sure that will make a striking appearance change.

Who the heck makes a 275/55-14 tire!?

Hoosier makes that particular tire it is larger than a 255 60 15. That tire will be on the rear of my 66 Satellite because I want to keep the hubcaps. I know, why? Just to appear stock and being sneeky at the same time. Nothing like out running a sporty car(mustang, camaro,...) with a grocery getter.
