FELLOW 67 GTX OWNERS JUST PULLED MY DRIVERS SIDE BUCKET OUT AND FOUND WOOD SPACERS BETWEEN SEAT TRACKS, THERE ALSO ON THE PASSENGER SEAT ???? BELIEVE THEY MUST BE FACTORY BECAUSE THE MOUNTING STUDS THAT ARE WELDED TO THE TRACK ARE LONG ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE THE SPACERS ?QUESTION? HAS ANYONE ELSE HAVE THEM UNDER THEIR BUCKETS ?WHATS THE STORY WITH THEM. CRAPPY PIC, SORRY

I'M SCRATCHING MY HEAD TO, THERE PAINTED AND SANDED AND LOOK REAL OLD , AND THE WELDED TRACK STUDS ARE OEM MAYBE THEY WHERE USED ON CARS WITH CONSOLES AS OPPOSED TO A BENCH SEAT ? I CANT SEE WHY SOMEONE WOULD RAISE THE SEAT UP 1"AND ON BOTH SIDES. FLOOR SUBFRAME IS 100% MINT.GOING TO TAKE A BETTER PIC

Perhaps a previous owner was "height challenged" but she know a good carpenter who gave her a lift...?

Must be a prior owners modification to raise the seating position. No wood on mine.

Maybe some one spilled a bottle of Viagra!!! Yucka...yucka...

I'm not as knowledgable as most of the guys here, but it does sound plausible that someone needed the extra height....Cars back then we're comfortable and roomy even for someone 6'4"....I'm guessing it was someone of a smaller build installed them to compensate..

Not sure about 66/67 (even though I have two, the seats are out), but 71-74 had round spacers.

I always take those out as I have a looong spine. One of the reasons I liked Mopars from the start!

The studs that go through the floor are extra long anyway.

My 64 Sport Fury had two piece bucket seat brackets that allowed raising, lowering or raking the seat cushion to a preferred position. They apparently discontinued this in 66 and someone was probably "T"d off about needing a bit of a raise and no adjustment - so they took matters into their own hands.

same...I had a split bench and now buckets. Kept the spacers on the bench cause it was to low. I re sprung the buckets and no need for the spacers

the best answer i ever got was the spacers were there to keep the track off the carpet that way if it got damp it wouldnt have the track sitting in it to start rusting its the best explanation i have

every seat i have ever took out had some kind of round plastic spacer under it 1/2 to 3/4 thick

it just seems funny that someone would go threw all that to raise them 1" thanks for everyone's input.

Just for the record- a clarification:

66 had height adjustable tracks, 67 were fixed.

1967 GTX did not come stock with seat spacers. Mid-1967 Dodge released this TSB regarding seat spacers and adjustment. Found it on hamtramck historical site, some might find it interesting...

That's interesting but did you notice the last paragraph mentions removing spacers installed during production to "lower" the seating position? That indicates some sort of spacer was there in new 67s with bucket seats.

1"....sit in them with the spacers for a while..take the spacer out and install...see how much an inch can make....I had a few 67 GTX,currently an R/T and the mounting studs appear to be far too long for a seat to floor install...like they were built to be raised as an option

Our 68 had the nylon or plastic stock ones, not wood.

Oh, and our newly acquired 67 R/T had no spacers.

There are adjustments you can make to seats. Looks like an M flatten out. The mounts that bolt to the floor have 2 bolts on each side so you can raise, lower and or tilt seat. Don't remember if you have to remove buckets to get at the bolts near console.
edit this is 66 seat in earlier post said 67 didn't have this. My 65 bench does.
