Doing some work on my brothers car this weekend and have some quetions for people in the know.
A little backround. I am an a body guy and know little about the car I will be working on in tems of what does and does not fit and where to get parts etc.. Yeah, its a Mopar but a bodies and b bodies are kind of like apples and oranges. My brothers car is a 68 Coronet R/T with a 69 HP440/727. The car sat for a long time in a garage and needs severe brake work and a new fuel system. We have been gathering parts for the fuel system and are just a few items short.
Question 1, since this car has a fuel line, return line, and two vent lines that go into the frame does this car require a hard to get or different type of fuel pump than the one that can be had at the local parts stores. Seems I remember seeing a funky looking fuel pump someplace that lookes like it had a large can like housing on it. I have not seen the one that is on the car as of yet.
Question 2, car needs both U bolts on the rear end housing (8 3/4) What size are the u bolts and who sells them?
Question 3, the car has a blue voltage regulator on it. I have been told this is a bad thing. Is this true?
Question 4, wiper motor does not want to let the arms do their thing. Arms move a little but seem frozen. Bad motor?
Question 5, how many flashers on the car? Turn signals work but not 4 ways.
Thanks in advance for the help!!

Will try to go in order here-
1) look at the pump on car now. Shoould have 1 line in and 1 line out. This is a common parts store pump.
2)Any good spring/alignment shop will have these, likely in stock.
3)Cheap headache avoidance to just replace the reg. anyway
4) Sounds like wiper linkage starting to siezi up. Liberally soak all of the pivot points with penetrant and gently move by hand to free up.
5) There are 2 flashers. I think one is under dash by ign switch, other close to fuse block.
Hope this helps!

Fuel pump is pretty standard but the canister you speak of is called a vapor separator and is found on the 440 cars. The canister is available as a repo http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/...&hid=114BN16101&cat=1&trk=12&searchid=6201119

U bolts should be pretty standard and available from Summit. Just match up to what you have now http://www.summitracing.com/search/?keyword=axle u bolts&dds=1

The blue voltage reg is a race only thing and is not recommended for the street. It will be much better for the battery if you just replaced it with a standard one. The original looks like this http://www.top-autopart.com/admin/bookpic/2008/20081029135209.jpg

It's possible the cam and switch in the wiper motor transmission needs to be cleaned and/or adjusted or there is a bad ground. The ground is accomplished by a brass strip going to one of the mounting bolts.

Two flashers total. Check under dash near steering column.

Sounds like a nice car! Good luck.

ChazRam,
As you might have figured out, we are a bit **** about checking out new projects on this forum. :3gears:

Thanks Dave, thought this was the place for questions. SORRY!!! Big Jim, Dettmatt, and Meep Meep. thanks also for the info. I will start with what I know. The wiper linkage is free when not connected to the motor. I thought maybe the pivots or linkage first but it wasnt. Gonna change the motor and try to make progress this weekend. I will check for the other flasher, go to the spring shop for the u bolts and most likely get the regulator that fits the car. I did post some pics on the projects thread awhile back. My computer crashed big time and I lost all the pics. Will get some and repost. Thanks again.

Dave, I was going to try to move the pics I have on FBBO projects thread but I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to computers. I will post even better pics than I did before. If you want a sneak peak they are on page three of the projects thread about half way down and the listing is for 'My Brothers 68 Coronet R/T. It truly was a 'Barn Find"!!!! Enjoy!!
