68 with 60amp Alternator - Not Charging

It seems everything will run at full voltage with the car off key on.

Even the B+ at the alternator is at 12.4v with the car off.

Start the car. . . Drops to 11.4 at the alt B+ still 12.4 st the battery.

How do you check a bad diode?

Both old alternator and new alternator show the same problem...so not sure if that'd be it but definitely worth a check.

Found it! This website below has a great diagnostic procedure.

I believe it's the voltage regulator. Though new must be junk.

If I disconnect the voltage regulator and the green wire from the alt and ground the green wires field connection, I get 16v (as this is the same as the voltage regulator telling the alternator the battery is dead) .

So the procedure on the site below is saying there is an open circuit in the voltage regulator.

My father is picking up one from Napa (instead of this autozone one) tomorrow and we'll try it out.

Thanks again everyone!

Was a team effort for sure and truly had me stumped. . . But I think we just about have it!
