No it’s not left hand threads. They either used loctite on it, or cross threaded it and forced it.thats the piece i have been trying to loosen so i could put it on an eddy carb. they must have used locktite on it because the retaining screw will not loosen. by any chance do you know if its left handed threads like some lug nuts?![]()
Some heat from a propane torch will loosen loctite, but this could lite your carb on fire. Make sure you have a big enough screwdriver to fill the slot in the screw. And don’t use screwdrivers with worn tips. Try to tighten the screw first and this may break it free so it will come out. It does work.
I’ve not had good luck trying to put the stock choke parts on an edelbrock or aftermarket Carter Carb. They don’t have the same hook ups.
back to your car problem, the choke shouldn’t really be needed after it has run for a few minutes and get some heat into it.
When you run the car does the heat crossover in the intake manifold get hot after a few minutes? If it doesn’t it’s probably blocked, and that can cause many odd running problems until it’s been run for 30 minutes or it’s 95 degrees outside.
