69 Super Bee Rebuild (my way)

I was laughing this morning when I typed that, as this is what came up as a 3 year memory on FB..

Since scuffing a car is probably one of the abosulte worst jobs in the world imo. I decided to spend another long day in the garage since I was still in the window of not having to ruff up the epoxy. Kind of stoked with the color. Never thought I would like a brown car, but T5 in a modern base clear really shines. Camera really doesn't do it justice. Underside, engine compartment, and interior is done, done, and done. I am burned out and my lovely wife is starting to complain about all the time I have been spending with the car. So time for a little break, quit playing in the garage, and get back to my day job. The only other thing I am going to finish is the trunk. I have to touch up my welds with duraglass before paint so that will be more time consuming.

that is beautiful, great job.a break will be good for you.

It's funny how the colors like T5 and FK5 have grown on me. 10 years ago, I would never have considered them, but now I see how gorgeous they are...especially in the sun

Same here. I finished up my 70 Duster a couple of years ago and painted that one FK5. I get a lot of compliments on that color.

Had an extra original shifter stick, so I sent it off to J&D Plating in St. Paul, MN. They did a nice job and were reasonable on pricing I thought. Picked up a T-handle on the internet to top it off.

That shifter handle came out nice. I need to find a place near me that does good plating. If not I may use your guy lol.

First time that I used him, but will again for any chroming I need done. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Made a trip to see Bob at Glen Ray to pick up my radiator and rebuilt heater core. We are lucky to have a place like this for our hobby. Bob is a class act who always does excellent work. Even drives around in an old Challenger all summer long.
Picked up a shroud from Mega Parts.

Braces, torque boxes & frame connectors look really good.

A pain in the butt to do, but you'll never regret it.

So that's what buying a really solid car does for a build:lowdown:..

Last time I looked it was fresh out of blasting and the bottom is already painted!!

My wife has had me in home renovation prison for a month... I need to get back in the garage!

Looks great Hunt!

Yeah, I learned my lesson with buying rusty cars. The 3 cars I currently own came from Texas, New Mexico, and California. Not that they didn't have any issues, but WAY better than the upper midwest cars I used to drag home.

Taking some time to get the last part of the painting I am going to do on the car. Got my trunk welds smoothed over and the car taped off.

Kind of painful scuffing up my nice copper paint, but I wanted to spray undercoating in the wheel wells at the same time as the inner quarters.
I really like the stuff RestoRick sells. I use a schutz (sic?) gun and spray at about 65 lbs. Messy job and the cleanup really sucks, but looks decent when done.

Spent about 4 hours this afternoon getting it sprayed. Five or six coats later. Used a touch more than 2 gallons to do these areas.

As a matter of fact, I did. Kind of why I dont mind undercoating. In a year from now it will be covered in road grime and shreads of my tires anyways.
