69 Super Bee Rebuild (my way)

That's not good......
Not good at all. This is the reason that I will never buy a car done. At least from anybody I don't know or without a lot of proof showing how the bodywork was done. I knew I would be stripping this car back to bare metal when I bought it. The PO really got screwed. I think he paid over $4K for this shotty work and its not worth 50 cents to me. If he would have went ahead and had it painted, there would have been major issues sprouting up within a year.

Really love your attention to detail Joel . . . and I'm excited to watch this project move forward ! ! !

That's why when I see anything advertised in primer I run for the hills! Usually it's just a ploy to hide things.

Here is some good stuff that was a surprise to me once I removed the paint from the rear lower window channel. Looks like they started to do a cobble job and then just said screw it and threw some bondo over the rust. So time for a new Dutchman panel.

Lower corners were Micky Moused up as well which really was no surprise after seeing the damaged in the channel.

Blasted and epoxy primed the channels before welding that would never be seen again.

Metalwork on this part of the car is done and in epoxy.

Right side trunk drop was also bad I discovered after cutting out the inferior quarter patch, so I replaced that as well.

And then on to the trunk floor. I specifically asked the PO if it was solid or needed help. He told me it was great and even took a screwdriver and poked all around. He was not lying about this because all his poke marks were visible. Like I mentioned previously, he is a car guy, but really doesn't know much about some things related to them. I could tell immediately when looking at the underside (which he never even did), that his body guy just mashed bondo in all the holes and rattle canned over it. Of course I didn't know any of this until making the 10 hour drive with a trailer hooked behind my truck.
I didn't want to remove the tail panel to get a one piece floor in and really don't like the 2 piece models. So I cut out 2 smaller bad areas on the left side and patched them in.

At that point, I removed a section from the left rail all the way over to the right drop extension which I replaced earlier. Pushed the car out side, blasted inside the rails, and epoxied them.

Welded in and ready for the blaster. This should complete the metal replacement on the rear of the car.

Moving right along.
Might seem like I am the Superman of metal repair, but that is not the case. Just getting this thread up to date from what I have got done so far in the last 3 months. Almost there.

Look at the difference of the rocker to quarter joints from side to side. Looks like the line worker had his welder set a bit high on the right side. It was not rusty, so I rewelded it solid.

Welcome back Joel nice to see you doing another B build. I will be watching as your last build was incredible.

Hey John. Thanks for the compliment, this project will be a lot easier as far as metal replacement goes. Just checked in on yours - looks like it is starting to move along nicely.

Lol. Takes me at least 10 times longer to do this stuff compared to someone who does it everyday. So no, I really don't think you would get your moneys worth.

So far I kind knew of all the problems I had to deal with as far as metal replacement. Turned out being a bit more involved than I had hoped, but I guess it always is on these old cars. The biggest unwelcome surprise was the front window channel. There was no way possible to know this problem existed when I purchased the car. Same deal as before. The previous body guy did shoddy metalwork on parts of it, and just filled in other rust areas they didn't want to deal with in bondo. Primer over and good to go, right? Ended up getting an upper cowl from moparmarks in Colorado to cut out the repair patches. A buddy of mine sold what was left over at the Indy show so somebody else can do the same with the remaining good spots.
