I need some help with a broken bench seat on my 70 Road Runner. Where the hinge attaches to the seat from snapped off right where the pin goes in. I'm trying to get it apart and my manual isn't helping much.

I like to know how to get this apart so I can weld the piece back on. The pin or bolt with a round head doesn't seam to any way to be taken apart. I looked on the other side to see how it comes apart, unless it's from under the seat on the frame side.

Thanks in Advance

Ed

once you get the round slide on washer/fastener retainer off it should just pull off , the center where the split is , is curved so you have to bend the bench up a little to get it to completely come off

Thanks moparstuart ... you just have to get that conv superbird in there don't you lol

Thanks Stuie, and i was just pondering fixing my seat too...

as you always do, you illustrate the process very well with pictures, thank you very much!

{btw, the birdable is always in a string of pictures!!! :glasses10: lol}

well when i'm sad about selling the 69 I have to go look in the garage at the convertible to cheer up , just so happened before the 69 left in september I put the head rest in so I had the photo file handy

awww man...well, look at it this way, at least you have a damn fine bastard child to beat up now... :headbang:

I like to know how to get this apart so I can weld the piece back on. The pin or bolt with a round head doesn't seam to any way to be taken apart. I looked on the other side to see how it comes apart, unless it's from under the seat on the frame side.

Thank very much great help, I just want to be clear, the pin/shoulder bolt that attaches the hinge to the bottom seat. It pulls out or ???.

Thanks

Ed

yes the seat back side just slides on to the pin , the pin is curves so like i said you have to work it alittle each way and pull up on the outer side to get it to slide off
I had to yank alittle to get it to come free

LOL i meant da Nash, but yes, the birdable too...:)
oh yeah that one too , it atracts a whole different crowd

:hello2:Once you have the retainer off the outer hinge pull the hinge free from the pin. Then lift the backrest up about ten inches from the bottom cushion and tilt it about 45 degrees and pull it towards you while wiggling it and pulling and it should come right off.

You did a very fine job.

I should have said lift it up about ten inches and tilt it to the front at about a forty five degree angle and then pull.

Thank you very much, once I clued in it was easy. your photos and info were a huge help thanks again.
