72 Charger, base model, bench seats. My son thought keeping the column shifter would be cool, so in light of all the other mods, I installed a IDIDT cable shifter. Despite the cable being 72 feet long... it's been working pretty well. However - hence my question to others who may have experienced this - to get the shifter to work it needs to be fairly tight around the column base. As a result, the shifter is difficult to move, presumably because the adapter is pinching the nylon bushing on the shift tube. I was considering spot welding the adapter to the column, but that seemed like an extreme solution that would cause a sh1tshow later if I needed to pull the steering column.

Anyway, any thoughts on how to keep the shifter adapter from spinning around the column, but not so tight as to jam up the shifter tube?

Perhaps you could drill the Ididt column surround and outer column jacket and use short screws to keep the bracket from spinning with a loosened clamping adjustment?
