Guys , I have decoded some of these codes, but not all, can anyone help. I thought my car was a rally car , but no A 57 is there. I have front and once a rear sway bar, bulge hood with pins, and what I thought was the rally gauges....but no tach, don t rally pacs have tachs? The car was originally a four speed car someone had converted over to a 727. I m now thinking they stripped maybe a rally car for these parts as well as rear axle. thanks
It’s a lynch road tag/car and most of the info is not on the fender tag. You need the build sheet for that. J54 I think is hood pins
Lack of a tach in your cluster does not mean anything. In fact, more cars with Rallye clusters do not have a tach than do have one.
Based on your tag, it's not a Rallye. But it could be on the build sheet. J54 is the Hood Insulating Pad. J45 would be the Hood Tie Down Pins and I don't see that on the tag.

With a Lynch Rd car you really need the build sheet to be sure its a Rallye. A57 is not typically on the tag in 73-74
Here's the best I found. Here is a pic of my tag. My car was built in St. Louis. The 340 was built in L.A. You can compare from my earlier post.
Rallye would get the hood code at least I guess if no A57 code ( LR cars ) hood pins and blackout ( V21 ) was optional, not part of the Rallye package, but hood is. Rear sway bar too. Rallye cluster is not exclusive on rallyes, but also part of package on SEs.
but you got V6X Code... rallye stripe code instead. I know in 74 several other cars could get Rallye stripes optionally, but can't recall if the V6X was just on Rallyes ( which I think it was just on Rallyes ) I'm just thinking out loud Thought
and if you think your car is U code, and 440s were just optional on Rallyes and SEs... is a plus on the code.
Not sure if the same stripe, but my 74 Charger SE has V7Y (Accent Stripes, Yellow). Not really sure if that was red fainting to yellow since I never actually seen a solid yellow stripe. Or is the Rallye stripe the one up around the belt line since the doors were gilled.
Anyone of them codes for a half or partial vinyl top, it is black. Nacho was helping me with some of this vin a while back. My car has been repainted in its past using a semi gloss paint. The car was not sanded down as the wide side stripe and the rear deck stripe are still there. I assume the stripe was added later cause I just can't figure you could order a black side and deck stripe, and black vinyl top on a factory black car. Found the build sheet but is was only a few small pieces left, pieced together still was not much legible . thanks all
Is that second line number the number 28 or Z8.. So, to get a factory tach , it HAD to be optional code ordered, not standard on any packages....thanks
Yes, for the most part you could get black stripes on black cars. I think that is a killer combination. Subtle, yet powerful design statement.
