73 Roadrunner help needed

I have a couple questions on dash wiring

In do not have a pic of this wire and bulb socket from when I took the dash apart. The only white wires in the body service manual wire diagram do not tell me where it goes or what it is for. I ran it to the drivers side but that may not be correct.

Second question is when I went to plug in the 2 connectors from the steering column to the main harness both connectors on the harness side cracked and split open. Does anyone know where to get replacements. This is not the best pic but again it is the harness side not the column side. They both have 8 pins.

Steering column connectors. No replacements available at this moment as far I know from the shelf. Some time ago there was a vendor selling these as a NOS Mopar piece but it was looong time ago ( maybe 10 years ago? ). Maybe contact to Evan's wire harnesses or M&H if they can sell these since the make harnesses and the could making them for their products. Sure it should exist a source to make their harnesses.

Two wires and socket. Hard to tell on that pic but... maybe fasten seatbelt light on dash frame? They were usually equipped on cars with tuff wheel. It is an extra harness attached to the map light insert plug for the seatbelt light indicator there.

I just sold a stock dash harness out of a '73 Satellite to member Lowe.n.behold and my harness didn't have anything like that.

What mine did have was a lot of yellow wires related to the dome light running loose. One length in particular was very long. I wonder if someone cut into one of those wires to make a light for under the dash?

The one I meant is not part of the harness but added, a separated harness from the underdash harness and is installed when the car got the seatbelt light on dash frame ( between glove box and ashtray ), usually installed on tuff wheel cars, because the smaller diameter on these blocks the view of the seatbelt light insert on the cluster eyebrow underneath the dash pad

I got that light with the harness to install it on my car and wires where white althought 74 diagrams shows it blue ( which is actually the original color on seatsbelt light circuit ). Can't recall the socket color but red sounds familiar. The harness for it runs up to the seatbelt light insert area and conects in between the seatbelt light plug to the insert and the dash harness plug.

Nacho, are you confusing matters by discussing a '74 harness here? I don't have first hand experience with this, but always thought there were differences in the harness between '73 and '74 due to '74's having the seatbelt interlock addition ('74 only)? A stock '74 wheel is about the same size as a tuff wheel (my point being a lot of myths floating around out there).

Unless directed at me, I'm done. I don't want to add confusion.

well I have seen the seatbelt light not just on 74s... so... ¿?¿?¿?.

about tuff wheel diameter, there is about an inch diff between standard and tuff wheel as far I recall. maybe 3/4"

I can't confirm the harness I got to feed the dash seatbelt light I added came from a 74. In fact I can't recall where I got it ( maybe ebay ? ), but it came with the light and harness being a straight add up to my 74. Just need to disconect the existant seatbelt light and conect in between both the harness i got.

Thanks all,
I am the second owner so it is not something that was added. I think the seat belt light next to the glove box makes the most sense I have the original part but the lenses was broken so I had installed a new repro that has a light in it. That would explain why it did not match up. I also agree the wiring diagram is incorrect mine says the wires are blue.

Just a follow up on what I found. The white wires with the red bulb connector was for the seat belt light on the dash next to the ash tray. I have not located any replacement connectors yet but am still trying. Hopefully I won't have to replace both sides, steering column and dash harness, since the column harness is new.

I dunno what exactly you need about the dash seatbelt warning light, but as far I recall you just need the bulb in there and insert it into the seatbelt bezel. That's it! No extra pieces required

If you remove the socket from the new bezel you got the red socket fits in there?

Next question about the new column harnesses and I guess you mean ignition and turning switch... have your ignition switch harness got a thin ( I think 18 gauge wire ) black wire which meets an orange wire into the dash harness plug? If your ignition switch harness did, it needs to be removed from the plug. That's a ground trigger signal wire not used on 71/74 B bodies and it meets with the column shifter light wire ( orange wire ) which is positive.

At certain moment MaMopar ( and replacement parts manufacturers ) began to make a single ignition switch model to be used on all 70s models which would need slight mods to install for the correct application, instead to keep making every diff switch for every model.

I was able to get the original wire harness light socket to fit the reproduction bezel but it is not as tight as the original. I may have to tinker with it after I get a battery in the car and test.

On the harness, I will check for the 18 gauge wire when I get back down to the shop. The car is in AZ and I live in CO so I cannot see it at the moment.
