8.25 carrier/gear ratio question

Hello,
I have an 8.25 Rear end with what I suspect(yet to confirm) are 2.45 gears,Will I be able to install lower gears in this carrier ? I can't remember if say a 2.76 or lower gear will directly interchange?

Looks like a whole bunch of gear ratios are available for a 8-1/4" rear end

The lower gears will fit in the housing, might have to do some grinding, The carrier breaks are: 2.24 and 2.45 only, and 2.71 and up. I believe there is a 8.25 thread over on FABO, has all of the info you should need.
