Any reason a 3.55 gear set from a newer jeep wouldn’t fit a 73 8.25 w/2.94’s?

I know about the carrier /axle spline difference and would be using the 73 carrier. Did anything change with the ring gear or pinion?

Not sure if the ABS tone ring spacing would change things enough to cause issues. More I think about it any ABS tone rings were on the axles. I would call a R&P shop and ask the question.

I run 3.55 in a 74 from a Wagoneer. The only real difference is the ring gear will not interchange Mopar 12 bolt AMC 10 bolt. The track lock otherwise fits perfectly.

Dr diff sells gears for them, and he states that they fit all 8.25s, if the carrier is for a 2.71 ratio and up.

Yes they interchange. I have run many late 90s 8.25 gear sets in early 70s housings.
