I got a brand new 489 third-member with clutch sure-grip, 3.55 gears, 1350 yoke and 1350 driveshaft and had 8 3/4 rearend power coated and unfortunately I let it set and rust has coated the inside a bit so should I have it power coated again? Also I was gonna use the stock axles but I feel like I should buy new ones due to the original 3rd member was an open diff and I don’t want old axles to mess up my new 3rd member. But before I came to this conclusion I had a shop press all new bearings and such and found out it was done wrong and that I could unwind the wheel bearing spiro-lock so you can swap the 5-hole wheel bearing retainer and brake backing plate but idk how too haha or what that means. But also since I’m planning on going with disc breaks all around then I thought I would just buy new axles already pressed with bearings and ready to install from Dr. Diff? Also what shocks should I get and what disc conversion kit is the best? Also where can I get like stock break lines that won’t rust? But idk what axles I should get or need so what do you guys think? It’s for a 1972 Plymouth satellite that will have a 440.
