8 year old new tires.

Ditch 'em.

Coopers Cobras are a little less expensive and have a nicer looking tread IMO.

Would you believe they don't seem to have a 225 60 15? I would have to get a 235.

That's what I've been doing, using it to run errands locally and see what fails. It hasn't been on the road since 1984. Honestly, I'm afraid to take on the parkway.
If you are afraid to use it the way you want, bite the bullet, and toss em.
That said, my 2012 camaro still has the original tires on it, with 15k on em. I'm starting to worry.
The tires on one of my Imperials are 30 years old, at least. A new set of tires, tubes, and liners for six wheels is gonna run about $5000. I'm in no hurry. The Imp is driven VERY gingerly.

What year Imperials would cost you 5K in tires? I think Im gonna have to toss them, but Ill wait till when the car is painted. That will give me time to get what I want.

Gripmax makes a rwl 225 60 15 with the identical tread of a t/a radial. Chinese tires, however. Mastercraft Avenger rwl apparently doesn't make a 225 60 15 either, so you'd have to go to 235. But Mastercraft is made by Cooper, probably why same size availability. I don't know where Cooper makes the mastercraft.
Both above are cheaper than Cooper Cobra, and bunches cheaper than BFG T/A's.
If you don't want rwl, there are lots of tire choices. Most of the really inexpensive ones are chinese. Japanese or Korean tires wouldn't scare me..... but the last couple sets of tires I've bought were Coopers, made in USA.

1933, 650x17 wide whitewalls, on six wire wheels. Tires are $600, tubes $200, liners $100, mount and balance by somebody that knows what they are doing, ???.
I can probably save some bucks by not doing two new spares.

And I have two 33 IMP's.

Had a set of BFG's on my 97 diesel that were 20 before pulling them off.....still drove good. They were truck tires with a higher load rating though
You are right. Truck tires are different that P metric passenger car tires.

A BFG car tire is garbage anyway so I'd dump them for a new tires.

I have a set of Cooper Cobra tires that are close to 20 years. They sat 12 years in the Chevy guys garage that I bought with the car now nearly 8 years ago. The difference? He at least started and moved the car 2-3 times a year. And I believe him by the the decent performance. But time stops for nobody. And I have noticed a little vibration at higher speeds. Plus, tire shops are reluctant to service this old of tire. (I guess they're not supposed too at all?)

I believe Cooper Cobra may be the best bang for one's buck on tires. The problem I have? Is the stance. They just don't have the (I belong on a classic car.) Look. At least my 20 year olds. They look like "I had a Sears credit card."

B.F. Goodrich? I haven't had the best experience. (Except they look right.) They haven't performed as well as I hoped. And was average at best on longevity.

My recommendation? If your sences are telling you these 8 year idle tires may have issues? Trust that sence.

Yes, I’m seeing the black walls are cheaper and like you said more options. Coopers are looking pretty good right now, 235’s aren’t that’s much bigger.

I've had lots of BFG's starting in the early 80's and never had bad ones but the tires that I had the worst luck with were Generals. One came apart and damage my beater (wasn't a beater at the time) then two more showed signs if failing and took them off. Sent General a damage claim and got reimbursed. Nice surprise. Had one Michelin shred but it was on my trailer and was 20 years old. I knew they were probably very questionable, so I took a couple of spares with me. Had planned on changing them out before making anymore runs with the trailer but one more popped up. Made two trips of 154 miles each to pick up a small car then some lubber. Thought I was going to make it but about 15 miles from the house, the right rear gave up. Glad it was on the right side!!

Looks like that trailer is grunting lol. I've hauled lots of cars butt first, especially if they were engineless. Hauled them butt first at times with engines in them too though.

That is alot of weight in one area. Use a different tire shop next time.

8 years ? It's the sitting in one spot that bothers me.

I hate loading a trailer that way too, but circumstances required it. Thats why its as far forward on the trailer as I could get it. Made it easy to roll into the garage.
Actually moved three cars to AZ butt first, so far. The 33 and two 55 Belair hdtps.

When I bought my car in 2020 these tires were just over 20 years old. It had less than 900 miles put on them in that time frame
Always stored indoors , on the car

They still looked like new tires. No checking or splits of any kind anywhere on the tire

It drove fine . But I was taking a 6-7 hr trip in the car that 1st summer
So I replaced them more as a precaution than anything else
