A833 sloppy shifter feel

I had a old hurst a friend loaned me. It was sloppy you put it in 3rd gear and could use that to find 1 st. I think there are two springs inside they take slop out so you can find the gate. I think both springs on the one I had were broken. Maybe one is broken or weak on yours. Watch the video Hurst rebuild.

...Not sure about the Chargers, but the Road Runners had the inland shifter in '68. They went to Hurst in '69 and if I remember correctly, it was because of numerous complaints about the inland.

The Inland experiment with the Chargers lasted until about March 1968, whereupon the Hursts were used.
