AC yes or no

I have a very nice 69 road runner. I drive it almost every week to car meets and just for fun. I live in Texas where we have more hot months than not. I want to put an aftermarket AC unit in which will cost approximately 10K. What things consider before I go through with it. Thanks

If it were not a hemi car, I would definitely install AC

In Texas, YES. Classic Auto Air shouldn’t run that high in cost.

2) pop steering column out
3) pop dash out.
4) remove old heater contraption
5) install new ice box and other remaining parts.
6) pump up the air
7) enjoy!

Yes on A/C and it won't cost anywhere close to 10K even if you pay someone to install it.

I've spent decades driving or sitting in traffic with no A/C. All but one of my hot rods now have A/C. The haters can whine, but my V-code GTX is getting a Classic Auto Air system.

Vintage air is the manufacturer, the cost of the unit is between 2.5 and 3k. A week and a half to install. They specialize in vintage cars and do great work. Nothing I would attempt on my own.

I installed classic auto air in the road runner. If I remember it was 1800 for the kit and it’s not hard to install.

They are not that hard to install unless your engine accessories are way different than stock. Actual install time should be less than 20 hours, if not adding options like in dash vents. If the original defroster vents need replacing with repops, then you could plan ahead and have them on hand so not to wait on them being shipped.

That's 2 8hr days and done by lunch the next. That's pretty solid.

Is that in dog years ? If it takes them a week and a half, I'd run in the opposite direction.

Job too big for me too. Had to give up the passenger side floor vent fyi. Take it to an AC Specialist after install for the charge. Are they still using R134A?
