Advice for a 73 Roadrunner

there is filler that magnets stick to as well no matter how thick it is I wouldnt trust the magnet trick. some people get pretty crafty when they are trying to take your money lol i've seen some crazy stuff. Get a friend who knows about body work and what to look for thats what I would do I wish I would have a few times before now I know lol.

if somone cant find quarters can a body shop fix them or does it make the car junk!!!???
Here is the before and after of my drivers side quarter. I used the AMD quarter patch and trunk extension to take care of the rusted out area, and the area with bondo was pounded back into shape with maybe just a skim coat on it now, magent sticks the same every where, he did a real nice job on it!

It depends on a couple of factors. First, are you looking for a car to restore to original or one to drive around in and that looks nice? Most of the resto guys want metal back there, and the drivers just want the car to look good and don't care if it's metal back there or bondo.

The other issue is cost. Bondo or metal, fixing bad quarters is expensive. Depending on what your budget is, there's a lot you can get done with the money that would go to repair bad quarters, so I always look for cars that have good quarters because I know what a drain they are on the budget.

For me, my car is a driver and I put 200+ miles on it every week, so I wanted a body that looked nice but I didn't want to be sweating every chip, dent, or ding that it got on the road or sitting in parking lots. My car didn't have rust issues in the quarters, but damage from a tree fall caused some serious damage to the passenger-side QP. My body guy banged it out, then used a thin layer of Bondo to finish it. It's not 100% metal, but it looks great and it didn't break my budget, so it was all good. :)

My car is blue with a blue interior. It has cracks in the dash & the horn button is broken too. Can anyone tell me where to get replacement parts? Has anyone had any luck having a dash recovered? How about the dash caps that are out there?

I put a dash cap in mine and love it. They are easy to install... just make sure the windows are down and a breeze is blowing because those silicone adhesive vapors are some kind of powerful. :) The cap's don't feel soft and spongy like a dash pad does, but they look identical and how often do you spend time doing the touchy-feely thing on your dash pad?

I agree completely, good price and they do look great as long as those fumes don't get you!

Back to "Things to look for".... I would check both passenger and drivers floor. Drivers side tends to get wet with wet drivers feet and the passenger side by condensate from the a/c if it has a/c.
