That was the factory 1968 AMX-GT concept car. Nice side pipes:) They lifted those lines to make the production Gremlin.

Holy Cow Photon440
I never knew that
You have seen my lil 77 Gremlin correct?

258 in-line
Love it!

There was a speed shop near me that built a black Gremlin 4x4 on a shortened early Bronco chassis with a 302 4 speed. It w a s professionally built, and it looked like it came that way from the factory.

I'm not sure I remember...you'd better show me another picture just in case. :)
I did like the cool Levi interiors...and the earlier Pierre Cardin, Gucci and Cassini interiors as well. Really reaching out there to be different.

Part of the attraction of the Levi's interior was on jeeps, they were semi-waterproof.

A friend of mine in HS traded his 68 nova for a 78-ish 304 4 speed CJ-7.

One size larger tires but otherwise all stock.

That was a super cool ride.

AMC did a "Few" interior upgrades
They also had a Pierre Cardin line on some Javelins/AMXs ?

So:
I contacted a guy who bought out a famous interior provider to /Detroit.
He sold out to either Legendary or SMS, I have the letter here some where.
Well, I need 4 to 5 yards of the Levi material.
In Detroit, the Old place it was $80 per yard.
Now its $110 per yard!
Yikes
I'm ordering it anyway.
He's the only one who has it.

The roofline on the Machines is straight from 60s MoPar C bodies.
Always liked the Scramblers and Machines.

I contemplated on the Machine BUT, remembering the SC/Rambler...
In my opinion, it's AMCs Factory BAD BOY!
(Not counting the Super Stock AMXs, only 50 made)
Again, only 1,512 SC/Ramblers made, yes the SC stands for Super Car, yes, it is RARE, yes, there are less than 300 in existence, yes...

I always thought the 67-70 Rebel looked a lot like the 68 Coronet, until I realized the Rebel came first.

Something not mentioned yet is that in 68- the Rebel and some other AMCs got "slam lock" style door handles.

How far ahead was that?
