another 69 runner project

Sweet looking project . So I heard silver and saw blue and green I saw blue is a no go ! Are you still going silver ?
Actually I am leaning on the factory color , it is how I remember the car as far back as 1984 . The car in the last pick helps also , a little trick I am planning on doing is a real carbon fiber overlay on my 6bbl hood . Thanks for interest and reply !

Good work on the wheel tubs. You can also move the axle back a bit to gain room at the front if need be.

I had to change gears a little and see some progress on something so I started to play around with the suspension . I’m really not the “look what I did” kind of guy but so many of you guys have posted stuff that I learned from and enjoyed seeing that I thought I should return the favor instead of letting this thread die . Thank you all for your help , I hope you enjoy the thread !

I think the green looks great. IMHO, I think you should keep the paint original color. However, if you really don't like the color, please make sure you choose a factory color from the correct year. So many people paint their 60's Mopar's plumb crazy and it just looks wrong. We love the pictures, please keep em coming.

That wheel tub modification is a great thing everyone should do while changing quarters. Just got done with a guys mustang. Went back stock with the sheet metal(inner and outer tubs+ quarters) now his plans have changed and he can't run the size tire he wants now. Looking great. Keep the pics coming.

Been a little sporadic in my work on the runner and my progress posts but I had some time last night and figured I’d focus a little on the engine. Since I’m getting ready to send a block out to have machined ( I had 2 440 blocks, 72 and a 77) I wanted to inspect them and choose the one to go out. 77 is a bare block that purchased with another engine which I know nothing about. The 72 is the one I pulled from the car and was already down to a short block. 72 is a forged crank, .030 flat top slugs. After popping the pistons out I found I had 6 busted top rings!!!! Might have had a detonation issue ya think?! Good news is the cyl walls are good and can probably be just honed and done. But to end this long story, I’m going to used the 77 because it’s a std bore to start and for reasons found in a write up on 440 source. Unless someone here has other info they wouldn’t mind sharing. Thanks for listening,,,,,,,,, er, reading

Olkimmer fixed me up with new molnar rods and diamond pistons! Off to the machine shop I go!!!

Been a while since I had some time to work on the ol runner but lately I’ve been making some progress. Left quarter is screwed on now off the the right side. Once everything is on, squared up and I’m happy with everything I’ll tear it all apart, paint inside everything them reinstall everything and welder up!

Make sure you spend some time on the area where the tail light housing and 1/4 meet. That was the worst area on my 1/4s
Also install your 1/4 window regulators before the final installation of 1/4s

Something new for today, I PICKED ME UP A COMPLETE 6BBL SETUP!!!!! I always said I would either go efi or 6bbl and now I’m set!!
