I had trunk floor screwed down to frame rails in a couple of places as well as trunk gutter and rear panel but only clamped rear xmember at frame rails ,,,,,dahh!! So here I am scratching my head cause now I have floor welded in and it appears that the floor has a wave in it when I try to clamp in the rear xmember when I clamp the xmember at the ends I have a clearance at the floor in the middle altho if I take clampsoffends and clamp in the middle it seems to draw up the ends,I know, I should have already had that put in, but "hurry " prevailed now patience is running out. any thoughts? Its not a catastrophe but a small setback, I'm sure at least one of you guys know what I'm talking about,,,,,,,,,right??

Im trying to picture this myself, and im afraid i cant do it, I welded in the rails, then back crossmember, im getting to the point of welding in the shock member and trunk pans and you have my attention... It doesn't sound like something that will set you back to much, If you had clamps from one side all the way to the other would that make things right enough to get it? Maybe even things out...

I'm not afraid to try something new ( lead ) but I would like easier if possible

Picked up a 440 6bbl today don't look too bad and the fella I bought it off of claims it was rebuilt before he bought it , I'm goin to rip it apart and make sure it's all good and maybe add a couple go fast parts. can't have too much power right ?

Great work being done here! Man the green with the six pack hood and steelies...SWEET!

Well I looked at my purchase a little closer today to see if it was rebuilt ( just a little piece of mind as to what was in it ) I only really found one issue however. For some reason I gave the crank a push/pull and it seemed like a little extra play so I put the dial indicator on it ,,,,, .025" of play , ugh, always something , man I hope the crank is ok !!

On that thought ,,, is there any #3 main bearing differences in any of the 440's? I was looking on summit to compare and it doesn't seem like there is but I swear I remember reading somewhere that there was ,I just can't find what I read ( if I did at all )

well, I pulled the #3 main cap and my suspicion was right , junk crank. maybe I'll pick up a less stressful and cheaper hobby like paper airplanes or under water basket weaving !!! lol

Playing around with the outer wheelhouse , there are about a million different ways to widen them so I figure if it works great if not , junk them and just go original fit .

My motivation , mainly because it’s my color.
