You might be interested in this Engine masters episode. They dyno air filters on a 760 hp Chevy engine. The dual snorkel kills 53 hp at that level. Minute mark 9:05, they say it can probably support about 390 hp. But flip the lid and the numbers are: kills 12 hp and supports 640 hp.

won't lose that much doing what i posted. K&N filter open base and some air coming in the back. you lose the HP at the upper rpms not across the board right ?

Please elaborate. Never heard of them.

It's actually F.A.S.T. = Factory Appearance Stock Tire... it's a racing segment aimed at just that. For stock-configured cars that have been modified but limited to stock parts.

I recall that article. Interesting because I'd had/used all those manifolds except the Weiand. Which perhaps may suit the OP's premise. I did have a SD with TQ under a stock hood, but not a 73-74, and not with a snorkel air cleaner.
