Anybody else have steering link hitting oil pan?

I got talked into using this Milodon 31580 Road/Race 7 quart pan on my 499 build. Full turn to the right bumps the corner of the pan. Don't think I want to dent in the pan because I don't know where the baffling is. Should a guy worry about it?

Road race or NASCAR pan ?

I don't see how you could modify the pan without removing it. You'd need to clean it thoroughly then cut and patch for clearance. Sucks to have to do to a pan and it would necessitate a repaint.

If it is not to far from full steering lock I think I would leave it.

I would look over the right side tie rod end /lower control arm area and find a spot to tac in a piece for a steering stop.

I did discover that if I put another castle nut on the end of the strut rod, that will bump before the link hits the pan. Thing is that there is only 2 or 3 threads left. Maybe some blue loctite on first?

I would like to just smack it a few times with a hammer. Don't think it would take much, but like I said I am not sure where all the baffles are inside.

Everything is brand new. Moroso solid mounts.

Can you take a 1/16 or 1/8th off the 1st nuts castles notchs and still have a good notch for the cotter pin ? That may get you a couple 3 more threads and loctite.

These strut rods are the heavy duty ones that Mancini sells. There are no castle nuts or cotter pins on them. The threaded end is 9/16 - 18.

Ok, I would keep looking at that end for a way to make a bump stop. May take a couple cold ones

Odd that Moroso would make such a pan that hits the steering. After all, for one less quart capacity,
the factory 6 quart clears by a country mile?

Maybe add a 1/16" wear plate on the pan contact area somehow and live with it.

I would have to wack that pan with a hammer to get some clearance probably wouldn’t take enough to affect the baffle to the point to cause trouble.
