Anybody have a replacement hip ?

Looks like my right one is shot,the pain is unbelieveable. In 5 months it went from a pain in the *** to using a cane and can barely walk. Doctor said it will be about 8 weeks before he can operate. Arthritis came on quick.Sucks getting old..

I hear that quite often. Most say not to worry,but it's been about 50 years since I've been under the knife.Worst part is the Dr. says within a year I'll have to get my left side done. Takes me out of the workin' on the car game for awhile.Guess I'll be getting my fix on this site.Thank you B-Bodies !!

Still have all my original parts, but, most could use a refreshing. I've known of a few people having it done, one being my sister in law. Now I have to tell her to slow down, what's the hurry!!! It's all good, they have them down to a science, in and out!!

That's what they told me about my left one too but it's still going although their are days it gets to hurting pretty bad. I recovered very quickly from the first one but now 9 years later not so sure how that would be.

She had it done at 68 and never looked back. Just get up and keep moving, is what she says all the time.

My Mom had it done many years ago, and it really helped Her. She'll be turning 97 this April, and still gets around just using a cane, although I have noticed a slight wobble at times. Probably needs the other side done, but a little late for that. We just talked about renewing Her drivers license, as she gets out locally when the weather is OK...

Had my right one done in 2013 and left one done last May. Surgery at 7 a.m. , home at noon!

Had knees replaced, 2 month recovery time. They say hips are easier, they say. Good luck!!

heard that it is the essayist and less painful than the other joints still waiting on 2 knees and a left shoulder to be replaced still working but its been very painful good luck

4 months out from THR. First two weeks post surgery are not fun. Get yourself a recliner to sleep in during that time. Pain is not a big deal. Lack of independence was difficult as you shouldn't drive for at least 4 weeks. Get yourself in shape before surgery, drop a few pounds, strengthen your legs. The type of procedure the surgeon does impacts recovery time. Anterior approach is less traumatic IF the surgeon is comfortable in doing it that way. I had posterior lateral approach which has supposed advantages later in recovery. If you have specific concerns PM me. Good luck.

Wow! Great question! But here's the disclaimer........ My experience is not what normally happens. So with that in mind....

2015 June left hip replacement using anterior approach. Back to wrk in less than 3 weeks!! Nov 2015 had rt side done. Same deal and because I'd reached max outa pocket on the first one. The second was free! Surgeon said the removed over a cup of arthritis from joint . the initial pain happened within 6 months to where I couldn't hardly walk I was 62 than. Life was flippin wonderful! Was able to ride both motorcycles no pain what so ever.
UNTIL Jun 2016 the left femoral stem came loose from the bone. The Fn pain was unbelievable it took 3 months until it was diagnosed as a failure long story short there was no infection or tramma to exsplain it .This time the same surgeon used the posterior approach as the stem can be longer. 8 weeks off work.
2018 The right side failed. The moment it happened this time I knew what it was!!!
Both "revisions" as they call it have remained stable.

In the last 6 years I’ve had both shoulders redone, back surgery, hernia surgery, a heart valve replaced with a bypass. Probably going to have to have my right hip and left knee worked on in the next few years, plus I’ve been diagnosed with prostate cancer (numbers are still very low), getting tired of this ****. Good thing my wife has great insurance through her work.

Even though I live in the past, I wouldn’t give up modern medicine for anything. Good luck with your hip replacement, you shouldn’t have any problems.

Both of mine were done anterior. I would not recommend any other way!

Thanks to all. Looks like the good out weighs the bad. Going back on the 19th to discuss just how bad the bones are due to the arthritis growth. We will see.

Just went back to work a month ago. From agonizing 25 second vehicle exits to no pain. It literally took that long to get out of my Transit at the end of the day, leaning on the door in agony. No pain at all now. 60 yrs old.
