I was wondering if anyone does restorations on these 70 Charger Finish Panels or knows of someone who restores them?

I've been working on mine and have painted it twice so far. I'm trying to replicate the anodized finish with paint, and it's a major PITA. When I tape off the Organisol paint, it leaves a bit of residue behind - you can see where the tape was. I even let it cure for 10 days, and it still happened a bit. I'm considering stripping it down, painting it all back (organisol) or maybe all silver first, letting it cure for 2 weeks, then clear coating with some 2K Satin clear coat. After the clear coat hardens (a few days), mask off the stripe, gently sand with 600 grit to help the paint adhere, then paint the other color. Finally, wait 2 more weeks for that paint to cure, then clear coat again.

Before I start down that road, I thought I'd ask if anyone professionally restores them with anodizing, etc (the right way).

Thanks in advance for any info!
Ross

I will. I'm considering getting the extensions for my bench grinder & buffer wheels (need them for polishing trim anyway). Maybe I can strip the paint & polish it up so the stripe only needs clear after the black paint Either way, I'm likely stripping the paint in the morning to give it another shot.

Check this guy out. If I remember correctly he used to vend a Carlisle and restored a lot of aluminum grills and finish panels. He had a lot of restored Mopar parts. He may do your finish panel.
